Yes, for what I paid I would rather it be real Nosler or Hornady brass. The .30-06 Norma was $1.80 a piece, didn't see any Lapua. Holding out for real Nosler as that is what I already have.
After looking at it as you did I have to agree. I do not think that it is bad brass but not what I thought it was (might be) and not the quality I wanted for this bolt gun.
Thanks DrMike!
I bought the brass on impulse and that is not me... Election is taking a toll I suppose.
I was looking for Nosler or Hornady but saw these and looked out of curiosity and saw the Nosler head stamp. Salesman advised that SSA is Nosler affiliated so I bought them thinking that...
Hello all, I found myself looking at 30-06 brass and found a bag of SSA brass. Saw [edit: actually the salesman stated] the "by Nosler" and that made me look closer. I peeked through the clear part of the 100 count bag and the heads read "Nosler".... Never heard of this so I thought I would...
I have been slacking with my promised reporting but have an honest reason - had a death in the family and have been busy.
I can't add photos now but I can report that my oldest daughter, now 15, has killed four whitetail deer. Each only required, one shot using either Nosler BT, Nosler AB, or...
It worked for my daughter in .30-06! So well that I have made enough that we are using it as "our" deer load going forward.
Stay tuned to this thread: http://forum.nosler.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=29159
I apparently jinxed myself and then had a family issue so I have been MIA and not as prompt...
Have not forgotten - daughter is four for four now! She took a ... I'll fill ya in later!
I am headed out this weekend, hope to be able to discuss applied ballistics (her results and mine) of this load next week.
Yes, I am impressed enough that I am going to them myself.
Hope to have the time to sit down and post a summary of the daughters "field application of the 125 NAB" this weekend!
Thanks to both of you.
Yes, I will run them side by side.and will report on that when I do/can. I was just curious if anyone else has done this, with 125's or 150', et al...
Anyone tried both in the same load? Did they fly the same POA/POI?
I have both to try at some point in a .30-06 at about 2900fps - will advise of my results when I get to play. Was just curious if anyone else has loaded both in the same load and what they saw as a result.
Thanks!
Yep, 3031... Unfortunately I only have one open box of those - and several 150 gr SSTs. Sorry!
(Edit: the 150 IB or Interbond is #30309, don't have any of those left, the 3031 is the Interlock. I should have just kept quiet.)
Pretty sure I have some, let me check my stash. It may be tomorrow evening before I can get back to you. So I can be sure - what is the Hornady "item number"?
Looking forward to the "after" shot!
I finally gave in and went wet in my "tumbling". If you like clean brass, wet tumble with stainless steel pins is the way to go in my opinion.
I set up 10 rounds, five each of 125 grain Hornady SST and Nosler Accubonds. I have some 125 NBTs around too but the rounds loaded, particularly the Accubonds are my focus. Used CCI LRP, Nosler brass, and 50 grains of RL15 to start. If I recall, I expect that to be pushing the 2900-ish fps...
Thank you gents, for the comments and the welcome. I look forward to more discussion on this matter and others.
I guess I could have added that this is a light sporter barrel and I really need to cut the stock down and add a real pad. The pad on there is basically a covering to protect the...
Hello all!
I started loading 125 grain NBT for my daughter and she has killed three deer, one shot each. Yep, I am tickled to death!! To be honest, I like shooting the light loads so much that I am going to make "one load" for both of us. That way I only have to try to remember one set of...
