The .25-06 Rem 700 CDL that is... I don't have photos of the does I've shot with it, nor of all the coyotes or other varmints it has eliminated. But here's a photo summary of why I like this .25-06 so much:

The rifle really suits me well. Light, nicely balanced, very accurate. Mild recoil, flat trajectory, quickly lethal on deer sized game... I think it's done alright for me since I bought it back 10 years ago. Did have a 4.5-14 scope on it the first couple of years but quickly swapped to the 6x Leupold and have happily stayed with that. It's been zeroed at 300 yards the entire time. Farthest kill was a coyote at 420, closest was a mule deer buck at about 20 - 30 yards. Only two bucks have required a second shot. Am pretty pleased with the rifle! Didn't hunt with it every year either. Substituted my .308 for whitetail, and used the .300 WSM one year.

AWESOME Guy! Man, your old CDL is doing real well for you.

I think I got and used my CDL 35 Whelen since 06, so it is getting close to the same age. It has a couple good hunts under it's belt as well.

Great pictures buddy! That thing just stacks em!

I've had my M700 BDL since 1983. Almost sold it a couple of times but something always held me back. Seems I'd back out when I'd shoulder the rifle, it just seems to fit so well. I'm glad the old rifle is out of the safe and again a hunting partner.
I'd love to have a M700 25 06 in Lefthand but Remington doesn't offer one. Maybe the custom shop?

I'd say that you've been well served with that rifle, Guy. Great cartridge and the rifle has been a solid performer for you.

I picked up a left hand 700CDL through a shop in Ckearfield PA Feb of 2013. It was the last one they had and I grabbed it.. This is only my second year with it but I am very pleased and intend to keep it until I die.

Great pics Guy and the CDL has served you well the 25 cals seem to kill like lighting bolts and you can trust them to shoot flat and place that bullet thru small openings. My 257 Roberts is my brush gun for that same reason, if I get a small window with which to shoot thru I know it can do it. I once took a 6 point White tail Buck with a nose shot because that's all I could see clearly since he was in a heavy thicket and had a large poplar tree he was standing behind watching me. That little Roberts put one in his brain by way of his sinus canal. Oh and it's built on a long action 725 BDL with a custom barrel.

Thanks guys. She's been a sweet rifle. I know it's just a production line Remington 700, but something about the stock dimensions/shape, velvet like finish on the metal, the balance... All that spoke to me years ago when Remington first came out with the CDL. I was on the verge of having a custom rifle built, walked into the local gun shop, and there it was sitting in front of me, the CDL. Had never heard of them, they were a new version of the Rem 700 at that point. The one I handled that day was a real looker, a .270 Win with some pretty nice wood. But I had excellent Wilson loading dies for the .25-06, as well as components, already at home, and really liked that cartridge, so I ordered a CDL in .25-06 right then and there.

Mine has plain wood, straight grain. Finish is clobbered up here and there. My son saw me stumble and fall with it, and bang it on some rocks, on an early hunt, in 2005 I think. I was sad. But... Did get a decent mulie out of the hunt...

Turns out it's the rifle I reach for first, time after time. I like the soft nudge of the .25-06 on my shoulder. I love the 1/2 MOA 3-shot accuracy... And it's easy to achieve. The rifle isn't perfect, but for me, for mule deer & coyote hunting, it's close. The only mods I've made are adjusting the trigger to a crisp 3 pounds and earlier this year I had it glass/pillar bedded. Someday I should get rid of that J-lock mechanism, but I dunno, it hasn't bothered me that much...

Can't say enough positive things about the 6x Leupold either. Excellent low-light performance. Very clear glass. Large "eye box" makes it real easy to get behind in a hurry.

The rifle followed a series of hunting rifles doing the same thing, but not as well. I was searching. Real glad I found this one. It's nice to find a rifle I trust so much and enjoy using so much!

Regards, Guy

Awesome pics Guy!, thanks for sharing. I have the same rifle and feel the same way you do about the gun. I replaced a rem 700 classic 25.06 with the cdl and even though I do miss the classic at times I have no regrets because I like the cdl better. I've taken deer and coyotes with mine and my 14yr old daughter is hunting with it this year and just recently harvested her first deer with it. She loves it too and I may not get it back. :)

Taken earlier this month, on a mule deer hunt, Washington Cascades:

Nice looking and well made rifle from all accounts.
It has served you well and I'm in hopes it will continue to serve you well.
