I’m shooting a 7mm rem mag 26” barrel 1:8 twist and looking for the right cartridge to shoot 1000yrds plus. I don’t hand load just looking to get the best info from guys with experience. Looking for good box ammo. Or at least good specs to look for.

Welcome to the forum...this is by far the best forum out there. Like JD338 mentioned, we can help you with your 1000 goal. I would start with premium factory ammo that has a high B.C. rating and at least 160 grain bullets (175 grain is probably the best in this class)

Tell me about your rifle and optic?
Unknown Munitions makes some incredibly reliable ammunition.

Look up HSM ammo as well with 168 or 180 Bergers

Unlike many forums where people will provide you with a lot of answers with very little information provided, on this forum you are going to get a lot of questions from experienced shooters/handloaders/gunsmiths who need more information in order to be able to provide you with the best feedback available (as already seen above).
For example:
  1. What is your intended purpose(s) for shooting 1000 yards? (already asked)
    1. Target?
      1. For personal pleasure?
      2. For competition?
    2. Hunting?
    3. Both?
    4. Just factory ammunition?
    5. Or are you looking to get into handloading too, down the road?
      1. This will open up another dimension for you with custom brass and bullets available that may assist you in achieving higher levels of success over shooting factory ammunition
  2. What is your shooting platform? (already asked)
  3. What is your intended optic? (already asked?
  4. Where do you live, shoot, and/or hunt?
    1. Elevation, temperature, humidity, wind, thermals, etc. will all have an impact on your shooting and successfully hitting long range targets
    2. When shooting at just one place, easy to determine
    3. When moving from one location to another (or many others), becomes more difficult as you must adapt to each environment
  5. You mention your rifle is a 7mm Rem Mag, and yet you are asking about the right cartridge...
    1. Are you sticking with your 7mm Rem Mag for now?
    2. Are you looking to rebarrel your current rifle? (Then only certain options are available based on your action)
    3. Or build a new rifle, now or down the road?
  6. What is your level of experience?
  7. What are your expectations?
    1. Is it achievable?
    2. Is it reasonable?
  8. Is cost a factor?
  9. Etc.
Hope this helps!

This would be a great place to start I believe other companies also load the 168 gr Berger's. Add the Nosler 168 gr ABLR factory load (although the ABLR can be more finicky when it comes to accuracy in general) and the Hornady 162 gr ELD-X load. Not sure if Hornady loads a ELD-M factory load but if they do it would be one to check out too.

If your looking for a rifle , the Savage 112 Magnum Target in 338 Lapua is an excellent choice for a starter rifle.
As for ammo Berger and Hornady produce quality match ammo in different calibers.

I also agree that the HSM ammunition is good.
While I am not using it for target practice or long range shooting, the hunting ammo (mostly with the SGK bullets) I have used of theirs has proven to produce sub-MOA groups (as small as 0.2"-0.5" range), in the hunting rifles I have tried them in to date. (incl/: 250 Savage, 6.5x55, 284 Win, 358 Win, and 375 Win)
