Hello,

Anyone hunting Whitetail Deer with this bullet from a 7mm-08?

My Brother wants to try it. He does have some open field areas of 3-400 yards of open shooting.

I was going to try around the 45-47 grain load of VARGET or my stand by of RL-15. TIKKA Bolt.

I'm going to shoot the 140 SOLID BASE.

Thanks,

At those ranges and out of that particular cartridge it will work just fine.

Our book max is 45.0grains for Varget.

That is for the 120gr BT out of a 7mm-08.

My youngest son used the 120's out of his 7m-08 LSS Mountain rifle (Remington) the year before last. Shot an 8 pt whitetail at 70 yds and a buck (15") antelope at 250 yds. The BT worked great on both animals. The whitetail ran about 60 yds and the antelope just flopped over backwards and that was it.

My dad uses 120 grain bullets in his 7mm08, which he has shot alot of deer with. i prefer the 140 grain myself. i have never had a deer run on me at all with the 140's. all 3 i shot with my08 dropped in their tracks....
