Took some 2.5 gal chem jugs to the range with me today. I wanted to catch a 140 AB out of the 270 Weatherby doing 3250, and a 130 PT out of a 270 Win, doing around 2950. The jugs were set up so that I was shooting into the narrow side of them. First up was the 270 Weatherby and the 140 AB.
I was pretty happy with how things went. The bullet penetrated two jugs, bounced off the third and was laying on the ground right next to the third jug. It weighed in at 83 gr., just a hair under 60%.
My friend was kind of interested in what was happening and wanted to see how her 270 Win shooting some 130 PT would do. I lined the jugs up and let one fly. I had put a piece of wood up behind the last two jugs, just in case the little 130 PT out of the Little 270 winchester went through both jugs. It turns out, it was a good thing I did! I picked that little 130 PT out of the wood behind the last jug. I didn't get a chance to weight it, as my friend wanted to keep her bullet. But it sure looked really good. It has kind of got me thinking about making the sewitch in my 270 Weatherby to a 150 Pt.
