This is a recovered 130gr Hornady Interbond shot from a custom Rem 700 with a 24" Krieger barrel at about 50 yards. Way too much gun for the area I was hunting, but I had not shot anything with this rifle since I got it back from the gunsmith. I was hunting in October, which is prime time for my area and this beautiful 8 pt just appeared, facing me & staring me down. I've had a trail camera in this spot since summer and had never seen this deer before. That's why rut hunting is so awesome! The buck was skittish already and must've seen me move before I ever saw him. Luckily my gun was already up and he took one step to the side and I quickly shot. I hit him in the forward shoulder and he hunched and ran into some of the thickest crap on the whole property.

A half way decent blood trail led roughly 50 yards to my buck! The bullet was found in the opposite ham after it went through one shoulder, a lung, guts & hit a bone in his hip. The bullet was pretty well mangled but went through a lot and muzzle velocity was around 3050 fps. Load consisted of Hornady brass, Ramshot Hunter, and a CCI LRP. Consistently 3/4 MOA in this rifle. I thought I had the notes on my phone (I don't), but I believe retained weight was in the 90gr range. I usually see much higher weight retention with Interbonds, but this bullet did a lot! Buck weighed 165 lbs. You can see the entrance wound if you zoom in on the front of the shoulder.

Congratulations on a beautiful buck and bullet catch.

Great bullet report. I used the 130 Interbond on a few deer from my 270 WSM around 20 years ago. It was a great set up. Never recovered a bullet though, but all deer were recovered. :ROFLMAO:

Congrats! :)

I believe that Hornady has dropped their InterBond line of bullets. Or at least most of them.

I emailed Hornady about a month ago and they confirmed they're out of production and have no current plans to bring them back. The rep said they're expensive and slow to make compared to their other projectiles. That's a shame, which is why I've been buying all I can when I see them.
