We'll find out. Frank will be shooting 1K with me next weekend using his 280 AI Black Widow. I crafted a load for his 280 comprised of 63 grains of Reloader 25 and 162 grain Hornady A-Max, clocked at 3000 fps. With this load, The 162 A-Max is only within 4MOA of elevation when compared with my 180 grain Berger VLD from my 7WSM.

Here's Frank's 3-3 shot group at 100 meters today. We're zeroing his rifle and chronographing the load at the same time.

that looks good. The BC of the 162 gr should have no trouble getting out to 1k.
Let us know how Frank and his rifle make out.

That looks like a great load. I admire his rifle, that's for sure; and the accuracy only enhances the looks.

Yep! there's no doubt JD. Actually after playing with numbers using my FTE Ballistic from my I-Phone, the 162 came within 1.5 MOA when compared with Berger 180 VLD. That's impressive considering that my 7WSM pushed the Berger at about the same velocity as the 162 A-Max on the 280AI.

Those 7mm's are some impressive bullets for sure. Starting to really enjoy working with this 7WSM more and more. Scotty

DrMike, you can really appreciate the beauty of this rifle in person. I'm just glad that the 9.5 twist Kreiger was able to handle the 162 A-Max since Hornady recommends 8 twist on them. Shoot's great at 100 meters though. The downrange performance however will be another matter. We will see.

For what it's worth, I have seen a 9.5 twist stablise the 162 A-Max in several rifles. I know the recommendation, but it is an application of the old truth that each rifle is its own determinate when it comes to what it will shoot. You are correct that I would appreciate the beauty of a well-built rifle. It is always an honour when I am permitted to handle such well-built rifles.

I dig that rifle, how much has been invest in it , if you don't mind me asking.
GM, The rifle was smithed by my buddy Leroy Sherman here in Inland Empire California. If I recall, Frank spend no more than a grand for the whole set-up, including the price of the Kreiger barrel and the gunsmithing. This was quite a challenging job for Leroy, since he had to inlet the rifle by hand. Richards doesn't have the set up for inletting the Voere Shikar action. In spite of that, the fit and finish between metal and wood is very commendable.
