I have a new Remington 700XR chambered in 300WSM and have pretty much settled on a load that uses the 165 AccuBond. I had shot a wild hog with the rifle using a 180 Sierra Pro Hunter, but was curious how the Accubonds would work.
This morning I got a shot a boar running like a scalded cat at every bit of 400 yards. I sat down, set up my shooting sticks and put it on him. I was very lucky, I placed the bullet right in the sweet spot, just below center of mass for up and down and just behind the shoulder. He rolled down the hill and was still.
The AccuBond hit a rib going in and made pretty big hole inside, the hole in the hide was small. It destroyed the lungs and took the top off the heart. The exit hole was pretty small, actually. I am quite pleased. I think this is going to be a good load.
I am a big fan of Partitions, but for whatever reason, this gun just does not shoot them well at all. I am glad that I found such a good substitute.
