I have a new Remington 700XR chambered in 300WSM and have pretty much settled on a load that uses the 165 AccuBond. I had shot a wild hog with the rifle using a 180 Sierra Pro Hunter, but was curious how the Accubonds would work.

This morning I got a shot a boar running like a scalded cat at every bit of 400 yards. I sat down, set up my shooting sticks and put it on him. I was very lucky, I placed the bullet right in the sweet spot, just below center of mass for up and down and just behind the shoulder. He rolled down the hill and was still.

The AccuBond hit a rib going in and made pretty big hole inside, the hole in the hide was small. It destroyed the lungs and took the top off the heart. The exit hole was pretty small, actually. I am quite pleased. I think this is going to be a good load.

I am a big fan of Partitions, but for whatever reason, this gun just does not shoot them well at all. I am glad that I found such a good substitute.

Congrats on the hogs, the only good thing about being in CA. Anyway, where are the pics?????

Rich, there will not be any pictures. It was just a good eating sized meat hog. We shoot so darned many hogs we don't take pictures of any but the big ones any more. We got two a couple of weeks ago that would go over 200 pounds each on the hoof.

You are right, California is a pretty sorry place to live except for the pleasant weather and the number of hogs we get to shoot. Our deer hunting has really gone to hell, and some sort of disease has petty much wiped out the ground squirrels around here.

Your experience on the hog was exactly like mine on deer. Small hole going in, good channel of destruction going thru and a small hole going out.

As mentioned in one of my previous posts, I have resorted to hunting hogs with my camera ( I carry a rifle just in case I see a big one), due to the freezer being full. I have at time gone and got hogs for other people, but I'm getting tired of doing all that work to clean, drag/cart it to the truck, skin and butcher the hogs.

Uhhhh... so if a really friendly, nice person from Oregon wanted to come down and kill some hogs, you'd hook him up with a decent spot to hunt? Seeing how you guys down there are downright sick of 'em and all?

Now, I didn't say I was sick of hunting them, I just have no room in the freezer and I'm not up to doing all that work for someone else. Hunting hogs with a camera is a challenge, I guess like archery hunting, you gotta get close to get a shot. If I see a big hog, whether I have freezer room or not, I'm going to take a shot (firearm shot) at it.
