Just wanted to throw a few good pictures of the Marlin 1895G with the new WWG Lever and Happy Trigger. The lever is really starting to smooth out and the trigger is pretty danged good. I have just about gotten everything I need for this rifle to be done. I have a proper cheek pad/storage compartment on the way and it will be complete and ready for the Fall. I love this rifle a ton guys. If you have any inclination in owning a cool big bore, this Marlin should be on your list, heck any of the 1895's are just awesome. Even with the new ones being made by Remington, I would still get a new one, I would just wanna check it out first. I have seen some nice ones. Anyhow, here are some shots.

Jim, this lever isn't THAT big. It fits my big paws very nicely and man, I am happy to say I shouldn't be playing bloody knuckles with the rifle anymore. It was winning everytime! Plus, I can just put my hand through the lever, naturally, and not have to worry about if I have gloves on or anything. These big bores are addictive, but they are fun. Have some mildly loaded 300gr BST's to try out (courtesy of my son) so I will let you know how it does. Scotty

Nice little package of whompa$$ ya got there.

Does the large loop seem to amplify lever throw distance? I know physically it's the same, I'm talking feel-wise.

CC they lever has no noticeable difference in throw but to me it cycles mixers as my entire hand is sitting in the rounded part of the loop which makes it seem more comfortable to me. I like it. Just handles better to me. The Marlin lever was just too danged small. Plus the recoil from heavy loads was hurtful on the fingers. Scotty

The Trigger is very nice Charlie. It has to be half as light as the other factory trigger and just has a great pull on it. Can't wait to see what it does on the range. Pretty sure it'll be excellent.

CC- the lever should allow me to not be stung by it again. Not a fun time on the range with heavy loads. Scotty

It looks quite nice, Scotty. When I pick one up, I'll have to consider that emendation.

Very nice Scotty!...These 45-70's are just awsome!..I have an 1895 GS with xs sights and 2x7 scope with leupold QRW rings, man I tell ya, it's scary accurate  ...haven't shot past 100 yds yet, but well group well under 1" at 100 8) ....gives my 338 WM a run for the money at 100 yds for sure..I LOVE IT  ...Lou

Got the WWG lever plus the Happy Trigger on the 1895 and it was worth the money. Factory trigger was just over six pounds with lots of creep. The Happy Trigger has a smooth three and a half pound pull now. The WWG lever is great since I have big paws for hands. The lever has a cool factor for me.

Those are some fine looking rifles gentlemen, and it sounds as if they shoot well too! Double bonus 8) 8) I've always had a thing for leverguns!

They are a ton of fun. I never thought a lever rifle would be as much fun as this Marlin has been. Heck, the 1895G spawned a 336CS 35 Rem and a M94 30-30 I liked it so much. Scotty

Nice!!! almost as pretty as mine.

Got the new rifle yesterday (Mod 70 Classic) from filmjunkie. A very good value needs a little cleanup here and there plus one of my splotch paint jobs. Will order mounts and rings today and try to get it to the range next week sometime. If I can get the tiny little groups out of it that he did I will order new stock this winter and replace standard tupperware.

Shot STW yesterday. after tweeking the scope slightly, (it was canted) same load as last week)but back wandering around again. Will shoot again this morning no wind.

Man, that STW is cutting you no slack Bill. Hope something gives with it... Scotty

Your 45-70 shoots better than my accurized, STW, with a 10 power leupold and bipod. Want to trade?
I am headed out to try again.

I should pass on that trade Bill  I think my 45-70 will see alot more use this hunting season than all my other rifles put together.

I think I may try something like this on VA Whitetails. 500gr DGX with Varget.

Bill, are you still trying to get that rifle to shoot? I thought that you had it where you wanted it by now?

Brian,

That is a pretty skookum looking group. I do believe it would work on a VA whitetail.
