I've been hunting with the BLR .358 Win since 1990 and love this rifle/cartridge combo to death. I own several other rifles and only take them out for an occassional walk on hunts unless I'm on a guided hunt where long shots are the norm.
The .358 is accurate and really kicks critter butt!!! I have not had an animal go more than 20 yds with this rifle. Most just hit the dirt like God himself punched their lights out. I load a 225 grain Sierra Game King exclusivlely now in this round. I was shooting 200 grain Remington Cor-lokt's, 200 grain Hornady RN and 200 grain Barnes's X's in the beginning but as I spent more time reloading this round and trying different bullets, I settled on the 225 grain Sierra GK. There isn't a deer, black bear or hog I havn't shot that didn't just keel over deader than a door nail after the 225 SGK did it's job. Never have I yet to fire a second shot either to finish off an animal with the .358
Out to 250 yds or less, I'll smoke any critter that steps within the crosshairs of my BLR! Love this bad boy and it will never go up for sale. Other rifles come and go, but my BLR .358 stays !!! It's my right hand in the woods!!!

The MI Late Turkey Season opened up on 5/7 and was over at 6:40 AM.
I shot this Tom with a 10" beard and 1" spurs with my Remington 11-87 12 ga 3 1/2" Super Mag at 30 yds with 2 1/4 oz of #5 Hevi Shot through a Pure Gold .670" Turkey choke. Smoked Turkey.
My wife with her first bull moose - Tikka T3 LS 270WSM with 140gr Accubonds @ 325 metres -2 shots double lung complete pass-thru. First shot killed the moose but I told her to fire again as I did not want the bull to get into the timber. The bull went 20metres then dropped @ timber edge.
My buddy with his first big bull elk taken with a 7mmRM with 160gr Accubonds @ about 100 metres, 2 shots.
Another hunting buddy with his bull moose @ 2006 Moose Camp with a couple of friends that (the guy in blue is our buddy that is the Yamaha dealer and lucky charm for Neil-has taken a moose every year since our buddy joined our camp (5 years) I heard the shot but I was about 2 miles away across a river - only bull we got @ camp last year. As you can tell...size doesn't matter....meat on the table does-for the first bull camp. Shot with a Sako m75ss 300WM with 180gr Accubonds-called right in to about 60 metres.
My buddy Neil with his cow elk using the Sako m75ss 300WM with 180gr Partiton Golds. We had a herd over 200 go right by us between 30-100 metres away. It sure was a great sight to see. Great way to tend the season in December.
Here is another pic froma day trip for moose after a couple of weeks after moose camp with another friend and we took out a few rough grouse to pan fry later.
If you have not figuired it out, my season was kind of slow as for shooting at game as I passed on my bull elk (6x6)holding for the herd bull, wich is probably the one my friend got  but I had just as much fun doing the calling and/or being out there with my BUDS, especially to be there this time with my wife. Two years before she took her first mulie buck (160BC) and cow elk, but I was out guiding for whitetail and mulies at the time.
Great Pics everyone. This sure gets a guy pumped for this season. For us in Alberta. we should find out our draws results within a week.
Here are some pics of the Caribou and the second Black Bear I got while I was living in Alaska.
I took the Caribou 50 miles south of Deadhorse,Alaska along the Haul Road, with a Mathews Ovation bow, shot was 53 yards.
This is the second bear I took,I took the first with a bow (same one as above). This was Labor Day weekend last year,Prince William Sound,Alaska. Stalked him up a river bed on an island.Shot was 225 yards, shooting a Remmy 700 in 300 Weatherby, shooting handloaded 180gr Nosler Partitions.he is not a monster,a little over 6 ft squared. But he already had his winter coat, full and thick with no rub spots. He made a beautiful rug.
