2014 Hunting Pictures

TB_78,

Breathtaking scenery. Very nice any time to see the mountains; better still to be in the mountains.

Idaho,

That is a fine bag of doves. Despite some difficult conditions, you've demonstrated the ability to surmount limitations.

Cool. I hadn't checked the 2014 photos in a while. Looks like things are going GREAT!

Congrats to all!

Guy

First hunt in several years. 2 of us limited both days. 60 doves in two mornings. Done by 10.

Man, I haven't hunted doves since the late 70s. Mike, you did very well, indeed.

Scotty, it's an amazing swinging gun! I'd bet you'd even be able to shoot and hit something with it! My graduation gift from HS from my father. Dove hunting was his all time favorite. It's great to get out here and think of the good times I had with him in the dove fields in TN when I was a kid.

Couple scenery shots from this weeks hunt. Went up for an overnight hunt and ended up shooting a little spike meat bull.

It was a relatively short but very steep stalk, dropped about 2000 feet in a 1/4 mile. Shot it at just under 300 yards but due to the hard angle I hit hight right at the top of the shoulder where the spine drops down.

I found two petals where the bullet smashed thru the spine. This is the first I have found with this 168gr Ttsx, you can tell by the shape of the petal it mushroomed perfectly and she'd the petal to keep penetrating.

It was too close to dark to pack it out so I cut it up and hiked back out to make camp at the wheelers. That hike back out reminded me how out of shape I have become since I have become a linehaul trucker. I might need to look into a different line of work!

At first light we made our way down there with the wheelers. I think packing meat back up that hill would have killed me!!!

Great account of Alaskan hunting. It is sure easy to neglect conditioning of our bodies when we are focused on making a living.

Knocked over a few pigs last week. This one with a 150g SST from the 270 Win at 40y...

And 4 others with the 338 WM using 200g Hotcors. None of the 4 were more than 60y away. All pass throughs with exit holes around an inch.

No real big ones on this trip. The biggest was probably around 40 odd kilos. The drought is knocking the pig numbers around. Great sport though.

Colorado Muzzle Loader 2014, We took 4 deer in 4 days, two bucks and two does. The weather was hot and hunting was tough for just about everyone we talked to. We were lucky. I always hunt the same mountain 30 min from the house. We had no shots longer than 70 yards.

He's sure a leggy thing. Looks to be in great shape. Lovely rack on him. You did well.

Made some time to get away this weekend while I was home to see Mom. Tell me you wouldn't want to hunt...or just hang out here for a while.... No I don't hunt here, but some pretty country around home in SD. Almost perfect if you ask me. CL

we had a great hunting weekend last weekend. first my i helped my wife's cousin shoot an antelope here in Utah. what a fun hunt! then it was off to Wyoming for my deer tag. i shot this buck at 375 yards with the great and powerful AccuBond out of my .270 win. for the score guys: the antelope went 75" and my buck went 171".
