2025 Hunting Season

My son got to harvest his first bull elk yesterday in Washington state. Main frame 6 point with an extra point on an eye guard. Shot was 578 yards, 300 win mag with 210 Berger hunting vld. I found this bull in September with his ladies, he was still in this area in October but had lost 7 ladies. My son actually spotted him yesterday slipping back in and was the only elk spotted. He was headed back to his bedding area that I had watched him previous times. His first shot went high above shoulder as he slightly quartered to us , his second shot took him low in the chest. The bull slid down hill not feeling well fell down but regained his footing. I told my son get another in him and his angle was the back end was all , so boom he broke the bulls hip. The bull slid down and lodged himself behind the tree . Got to the bull at 915 am and last load was in truck by 721 pm. It was a stellar and brutal day.
Congratulations to your son. Sounds like he did some fine shooting. That is a great bull.

Congrats to your son on a fine big bull👍

We had a great hunt this morning where our my daughter harvested her cow elk. This is public land in Southern Idaho. We had to hike a couples of miles to get to the herd, and my daughter made an excellent one shot kill from 620 yards. She used my 7 PRC with 175 ELD-X. Now onto processing this great meat. We practice a lot at distances at 1000 yards and further, and I knew she was capable of making this shot.

So, the 7PRC bites again! Congratulations to the young lade and to her trainer. She'll feel a sense of pride each time the family dines on this fine meat.

Wow! Congratulations to you both!
