An early start as we are hunting buffalo today. Fried eggs, the good bacon, toast juice and the regular accompaniment. Everyone here runs on coffee except me, and I like the orange juice. Took my .375 wby with 300gr A Frames, leupold 1-6 with an illuminated dot in the center of the crosshairs. Love this scope and while I should put a beautiful wood stock on the rifle, the painted composite stock is very accurate and I don’t sweat the elements with it.
Buffalo are common on the home property and we drive to a plateau to glass for an old bull. Located 4 together with one stud and one other shooter. We managed to get ahead of them. This is very thick brush and the ground here resembles ground shale. Makes for difficult tracking and noisy stalking.
The oldest bull stopped broadside and I was waiting for him on the sticks. The ph said “take him on the shoulder” and then Plugged his ears. The camera man said “Wait!” As he tried to maneuver for clear filming. I should explain that I am having this hunt professionally filmed. I am left handed and the videographer is having to adapt to my style. This time we Lost the opportunity. . .
We spent the next couple hours tracking and trying to outwit the very clever bulls, coming close but never had them in the clear again. It is very thick brush and exactly the height of s bulls back.
Had one Other bull in the crosshairs with my bright Red light Illuminating on his chest.. he bolted just a second too soon as well.
On our way to lunch at the main lodge we spotted a bunch of warthogs feeding with a good boar in the group.
Very literally dropped him in his tracks with the .375 wby and 300 gr A Frames. Passed through, have lots of confidence in this set up if we can get a buffalo to stand still long enough!IMG_2137.jpeg

That's hunting, but you did redeem the hunt with the porker. No doubt, the bull you want will present himself shortly.

Nice to another 375 Wby in use.
I see it made short work on hog.

I didn’t go to the skinning shed as I sometimes do to see how a bullet performs as they remove the organs. Organs are kept here to sell to the butchery for food. So I didn’t get to see what the bullet actually struck.
But we did get it on film which I understand will be in my possession around Christmas time. I think I will be able To post it to YouTube.
Dropped in his tracks doesn’t do it justice as you would expect when a load designed for a buffalo hits on an animal the size of a warthog.
I also have a second scope (QDR’s) and a dozen 235 gr bullets so maybe I will have a chance to use them later in the week in plains game. I’ve used them before and they are deadly
