Do these bullets require a special stem for seating? My hornady dies are leaving a very bad ring and indentation near the top of the bullet (300 wm).

No. Just chuck the seater in a drill and polish
it with fine sand paper and steel wool to remove the
the sharp edges.

The nose of the ABLR is very soft which is what allows it to expand down to 1300fps. I had this problem as well with the 129gr in my 260. I use Wilson neck dies and had to back off the neck tension to seat them without leaving a doughnut in the bullet nose. Polishing the seater may help I'd try that first. But if that doesn't work you'll have to go to a bushing die and play with how much neck tension you have.

I'm using Redding dies and don't have any problem seating them. They do leave a mark but no indentation.

I have a full length set of Hornady dies also. I don't use them because they squish the neck down way too far.

Interesting. I emailed them last week but have not heard anything. Might be shopping for new dies now.

I returned my hornady dies and bought reddings. They seem to get much better.
