I have the data from the 5th Edition manual but I want to know the experiences YOU have had with reloading 220 grain bullets for the 300 Weatherby Mag.

I have a Winchester Model 70 XTR Sporter with a muzzle brake. If I don't count the chamber and the brake, the barrel is 19 inches long.

Any suggestion you have would be greatly appreciated.

i have an older magnum length pre-64 300 H and H rechambered by Weatherby (he used to do it for 15 bucks as mine was) to the 300W. I have shot the 220 grain Hornadys over mamoth loads of H870 with tremendous muzzle blast and good velocity. I prefer the 200 grainers now but would try any of the good powders slower than H4831 with the 220s now. I never liked the round nose soft points at 300W velocities as they open violently on elk sized critters. I would only load 220s in the steel jacket now and only if going to Africa and needed them. Recoil is elevated with the 220s also in case that is important.
