I am ready to order the Reddington Type S Match Neck Die Set for my 223Rem. I have Win brass and will measure the loaded HSM ammo neck diameter for them. I also have new Lapua brass and can not do this for them. I start by size all new brass, but this may not be necessary for the lapua since all come off the same die per batch. I will get the titanium nitride bushings and carbide sizing button kit too.

What is a good starting size to get? I was thinking a .246" and .248" and work from there. what are you using and any one else useing lapua brass?

First thing you have to do is to load your Lapua brass with your favorite bullet. Then measure the neck of the loaded round. Take .002 to .003 off what ever that number is, and that my friend will be your bushing size.

+1 on what Desert Fox said.

Save your money on the expander button, they introduce problems rather than eliminate them. At least IMO.

I have no dies for the 223. But I called Sinclair International and their tech use the 223 and said he uses for Laupua and Rem brass the .246" bushing and for Win brass the .244" bushing.

Went home and measured my HSM ammo with Win brass and it was .246" and the unloaded Lapua was .247-8" so he seems spot on. Ordered everything last night once it comes in I can start loading.

Thanks everyone
