Going to use my S2 this year for WT deer hunting and was thinking of trying the 80gr TTSX. I hear Hybrid 100v is a good powder. I have some H4350 and was thinking of trying it first. Opinions?

Here is a QL Prediction: Based on this maybe a slower powder would be a good place to start. I do use HV100 in my 243's with 85 and 70gn bullets. I have a few lbs on hand and it shoots these really well.

Thanks for the QL info. I am also thinking of trying the Nosler 95gr CT and was thinking of either H4350 or H4831.

Try 34-56gr of R19 behind your 80 TTSX. I used 54gr of R19 behind the old 90x for right at 3450 fps. it was an awesome load!

No, haven't run them over the chrono yet. Will be heading out again maybe tomorrow and will then. Thinking around 3200-3300.

Ok, ran the H4831 load over the chrono and pretty decent speed for a 24" barrel.

Not bad at all and the SD is tight although minimal shot count. I m getting 3240 with 53 hrs of R22 and good SD also although the temperature sensitivity on R 22 is often stated as more finicky.

Will be curious if you get Chrono velocities on 7828. It has for years been one of the faster loads in many WB cases. Wouldn't be surprised if that tickles 3350+ fps in that 24" tube!

I was also wondering if Retumbo would work. I use it in my 25/06. I can't locate any RL22 up here, but have some RL25.

Another range trip and tried some different powders. The 53.5grs of 7828 did 3250fps.

All nice groups! If you get the velocity on those R25 loads please share. I m very interested whether the 24" barrel will give more speed with the larger charges of slow burning powder.

I run 54 of 7828 and got a little room to bump up in a 6-284 with 90AB. Most guys say the load data is interchangeable between the two. Should be able to get up around 3300-3350 with a 24" barrel and 95's. I'm running 3400 with a 26" and two or 3 grains below max.

Being that any Alliant powder is getting hard to find up here, I don't think I will build a load with it.
I might tinker with OAL on the 7828 load. It has good speed. I do have reservations with using the SST on deer. Might be a bit explosive lol
I have some Barnes 85gr TSX that I want to try next. Just trying to figure out what powder to try.

I worked up to 53 hrs of IMR4831 (max per a islet manual; and most accurate) but an 87 gr VMax and sub MOA and 3420 fps in my 24" barrel.

Might consider that if you ve got that powder. I would be cautious of the Barnes bullet vs cup/core bullet though and work up your love ad.

I was hoping to stick with a more temperature stable powder. Being up here in the great white north, the weather can get pretty extreme.
I really like the Ballistic Tip for deer. Took a nice buck last year with my .25/06 using a 115gr BT and it was a bang flop at just over 200yds.
Once it stops raining, I will do some more testing [emoji4]

H4350 and H4831 sit on both sides of IMR4831.... One of their burn rates might work nicely with the 80 gr Barnes. Just sayin ...
