Ended up getting to shoot a couple different factory loads in the A-Bolt this week. The Core-Lokt's were horrible at over 2" at 100 yards, while the Power Shoks shot around 3/4" - both were 100 grain bullets. Since the gun hasn't been broken in yet, and has had fewer than 20 rounds through it I'm excited for some serious load development shortly.
1st picture shows the two different loads, the 2nd shows the Power Shoks.

The Win factory load and the third target tell me that your rifle has some real potential.
Looking forward to your load development and range results.

I had real good factory loads from hornady in my little Marlin .243. They were also under an inch at a hundred yards with a brand new bore. I was able to take advantage of noslers stimulis plan and buy some of their custom amunition with 85gr partitions. I cant wait to give them a try. What bullets do you plan on trying in you hand loads?

I'd like to hear your range report when you have a chance to shoot those 85 grainers. I'm torn between the 85, 95 and 100 grain Partitions, although I'm leaning towards the 100 grainers.

That's pretty nice! I think any of the Partitions you listed would work very well. What the heck, split the distance and try the 95 gr. first! Nice rifle..

Hopefully after the holiday weekend I can find the time to try those 85g partitions out. I am anxious to try them as well. My daughter turns 10 next month and just passed hunter safety last month so she will be given the chance to shoot either these loads or 60g partitions in my .223 WSSM this fall on deer. She has touched off a hand full of the .223 WSSM rounds without any ill effects yet.

I wouldn't think that little .223 would hurt her. That's exciting isn't it! A little huntress in the family. The 243 won't wack her much at all either. All she needs now is a pink or purple rifle case to carry her rifle to and from the hunt in!  I know, I'm bad. Actually I found a pink one for a friend the other day and she loved it. It even has a zippered side pocket and she said she could carry her lipstick in there. :p  Not so sure her husband was as happy now having his wife in camp with a pink rifle! Just trying to help as best that I can........

TBASTIAN,

It does look as if you are moving toward a real shooter with that rifle. Are you focused on a particular bullet you hope to use?

Yes I am...would love to get the 100 grain Partition to shoot. Just bought the dies and bullets today. Loaded the following:

IMR 4831 - 42.0 grains
IMR 4350 - 41.5 grains
RL 19 - 42.5 grains
RL 22 - 42.5 grains

Now to hit the woods and test them out, in between rain showers, this weekend!

Carnac the Magnificent predicts..................... IMR4350 41.5 grains :!:

I chucked my first group of 100 grain partitions at the range with my Savage M10 last weekend. 200 yards on a windy day gave me about a 2" 4 shot group, not bad for PT's I figure, for starters.

Hey TBASTIAN! It has been a while but I finally tried those Nosler Trophy Grade factory loads. They shot pretty well out of my cheap marlin rifle :p I shot some Nosler factory ammo in my .270WSM that looked pretty close to these but was able to improve on accuracy with my hand loads. Hope your load developement is coming along well. I am very intersted in you results!
