Not an 18 1/2", but I have chronographed some factory ammo through a 15" T/C Encore. I'd have to look it up to be exact on the numbers, but if I remember right 80's were running 2800 - 2900 FPS and 100's at 2550 FPS. Handloads with 55gr. Nosler Ballistic Tips were 3200 FPS, 80gr. Speer Hot Core Spitzers 2920 FPS and 95gr. Nosler Ballistic Tips were 2700 FPS in the 15" ENcore.
I have a buddy with a 20" Remington Model 660 in .243. The only load we ever chronographed in it was 55gr. Nosler Ballistic Tips loaded with Varget (I think we are 1 1/2 grs. under max). At any rate he has shot a few groups at 200 yards that went 5/8 to 3/4" at 3700 FPS.
18.5" remington model 7 youth. 100gr rem coreloc 2650fps i did several reloads but never got better accuracy than the factory ammo. so this is what my wife shoots.
well, i'm going to the gun shop i located the mohawk at and see if i can get a good deal on it. i had one in 6mm that i bought for $250 a couple of years ago and regretably sold it. they are wanting $350 for this one and it is in worse shape, stock-wise than the 6mm was. i plan on refinishing the stock and maybe even rebluing it if i can get it. they are perfect "truck" guns and perfect for smaller framed people like my 10 year old son. thanks for the info.
Better grab that mowhawk, they are getting hard to find. The mowhawk 600 that my dad bought when he was 17 is still in service today. That rifle served dad well til the day cancer ended his hunt@49years young.Theres to many people to list that took there first deer with the BB gun.Lots of peole poked fun at the short barreled rifle, but you couldnt argue with the results.Handy as a shirt pocket and easy to carry. We never had access to a chrny but a 100gr bullet out of that rifle is trouble for any whitetail.Dad killed lots of deer past 200yds,dont let anyone tell you that short barrel is only good for short range.Hope you get that rifle and it makes as many memories for you as ours did for my family
