I have a friend with a .243 that wants my help developing a load for. He is going to use 95 gr. BT bullets. I have used RL22 with decent results in the past. What other powders would you guys recommend? What would be your top 3 choices?

I bought my first .243 in 1966. I started with IMR 4350 and have seen no reason to change.

Given the current state of availability of powders in general, you may have a tough time locating the more popular .243 Win powders like IMR-4350, H-4831, IMR-4831 and Reloder 19 and 22. For some reason, IMR-7828 seems to be more readily available and I have seen pretty good results with Reloder 17, a newer powder from Alliant that is close to the 4350's in burning rate. A couple of other newer powders that I haven't yet tried but that should be good would be the slow burning ball powders from Alliant and Winchester, Power Pro 4000 and Win 780 Supreme. My top 3 choices would be: IMR-4350, Reloder 17, and H-4831 for the heavier bullets (90 gr and up). For the lighter bullets, you can add IMR-4064 to the mix, along with W-760/H-414 and many others.

I think anything in the 4350 class and slower will work well. 7828 is readily avalible and powdervalley has IMR4350 and 7828.

Hy- brid 100 , you won't be disappointed . It's great in the 243 & 6mm Remmy . Some of the best velocity s / charge ratio that I have found.

I have started using Hybrid 100V for my .257 Roberts now but even it is in short supply now locally. If this H100 V powder works with the .257 it should work just as well with the .243, if you can find it?

You can use from medium to low burning powder on your 243. My favorite are these two, IMR 4350 and Reloader 19. My buddy swore by IMR 7828 on his 243.
