It's real satisfying to pull a rifle out of the safe, grab a box of ammo, and slam steel shot after shot at 300 yards.

In this case the 25-06 700 CDL with the 6x Leupold, and of course the 115 grain Nosler Ballistic Tips at 3150 fps via Retumbo:

Hoping to get out for coyotes quite a bit this winter, and wanted to make sure the 25-06 is good to go...

Regards, Guy

Yes it is quite satisfying, I feel that way anytime I get out the Savage 12 varmint in 22-250 and the V-max...I’d say there are some coyotes that are in for a bad day, but I suspect they’ll never know it ‘till it’s over.

Great pics, My CDL likes the 115grn as well. Both RL22 and H4831. I am probably gonna drop the kids off at school, grab my CDL and do a little calling myself this morning. I confirmed my loads last week for this season...... 80grn Barnes TTSX with 61.5 of H4831 (lead free CA).

I couldn't agree more. I confirmed zeros last week for the 280AI, 35 Whelen, and Sue's 280AI at 100 and 250 yards. Sue then shot a round at 100 yards and then 5-6 shots at the 250 yard gong, hitting it every time.
Love the sound of a bullet wacking a steel gong. The farther away the better!

BTW - the reason I use the 25-06 on coyotes instead of my 5.56/223 AR-15, or the 204 Ruger/CZ rifle is HOPE.

Hope that this will be the winter I actually manage to find a mountain lion while I'm coyote hunting. The 204 would likely kill a big cat okay, but isn't legal to use on them here in Washington.

A 115grn NBT with Retumbo pushing it out the door certainly will!

My cousin killed the #10 cougar in washington years ago while calling for dogs. Took 4 shots with a 223/50g max to bring him down at 250-300 yards. I'd want something a little bigger than a 204 myself...A 2506 with 100g or 115g NBTs will certainly do the trick. They were my bullets of choice for dogs from my 2506. Even with a marginal hit, they never went far. Killed at least around 60 dogs with that combo, most were anywhere from 200 out to 600 yards.

What kind of pelt damage do you see on the dogs smacking them with a 115?

As long as it wasn't a direct shoulder hit, most were around 1" exits with the 115s, not to bad really. The occasional shoulder hit would open up to a baseball size hole. The 100s were a lot more violent. They were usually baseball size holes with rib shots, and if you hit a shoulder, they'd be hanging by the threads of their back and belly...

I'd agree with Remingtonman.

The 115 Nosler Ballistic Tips haven't been too bad on the pelts.

I used to use the 115 gr Berger VLD... That thing had a tendency to remove large chunks from the off-side of the coyote... Very messy. Sure killed quickly though!

Found a couple of boxes of 115 BT's recently. Will try them in the wife's 257 Bob when we get the chance.
Trying to find a good load with the 110 AB in the 250AI.

Always satisfying when getting nice groups!
And there is nothing quite as satisfying as the sound of bullets ringing steel at the longer distances at the range! (or smacking rocks on some distant hillside!) Always puts a smile on the shooter's face!
