I've been working with my new 25/300WSM built by Hart using RL22 and 110 Accubonds. So far the results are so-so. I would like to try IMR4831 and Magpro but cannot find any starting load data for these powders. Anybody have anything????

Is there some loose guidline in determining starting loads based on load data for the parent cartridge?

Thanks!

Do you have EXCEL? I have some load data worked up in my mine which is a 24" polygonal rifled pacnor. Will need to reduce the loads and work up appropriately but should give you some starting points.

Here is a little of my data
Powder Bullet Length speed primer group

R25 64 100 Hornady SP 2.8 COL 3469 fps 215

R25 65 100 Hornady SP 3518 fps 215

Retumbo 64 100 Hornady SP 2.8 3338 fps 215

Retumbo 65 100 Hornady SP 2.8 3427 fps 215

Retumbo 66 100 Hornady SP 2.8 3472 fps 215

Retumbo 66 100 Hornady SP 2.8 3472 fps WLRM .72

Retumbo 67 100 Hornady SP 2.8 215 .67

Retumbo 68 100 Hornady SP 2.8 3577 fps 215

Retumbo 63 117 Hornady BTSP 2.8 3378 fps WLRM .4

Retumbo 62 115 Nosler Part 2.8 WLRM .8

MAGNUM 67.5 117 Hornady BTSP 2.8 3340 fps 215 .5,.9

MAGPRO 69 100 Hornady SP 2.8 WLRM 0.6

Thanks for the responses! I do have Excel and would greatly appreciate any help. It's fun working on these wilcats, but I'm not terribly confident in trying to guestimate starting loads based on 257 Weatherby data taking into account the difference in case capacity.

tpbscha,

I figured the case capacity of the 2506, the 257 weatherby and the 25 WSM and used the percentage increased and decreased from those to cartridges to figure my starting points and some max loads.

If you have an email address I can send you the excel spread sheet I compiled of test loads.

Does Hart have any load data for you to try?

That 25/300WSM pushing the 100 gr @ 3400 should make for a flat shooting deer/antelope rifle.
What velocity can you expect to get with the 100 gr AB?

Thanks Bluedot, got the info! In general, I am hoping to get 3400 with 100gr bullet. So far I've only worked with 110 AccuBond with some really good groups. My chronograph has been out of commision so I don't have any velocities yet. That should change next week!

I have a variation of the 25-300WSM. I call it a 257LUV (long range ultra varmint). The shoulder has been set to 40 degrees and the body taper reduced to .010. I have had good results using Rotumbo with Sierra 100 grain match kings. best is .272 for 5 shots at 100 yards. I think it will do better with the right load. That said, I would love to have the XCEL data offered by Bluedot. If you are still willing, my eaddy is cz75lang@pacbell.net. I hope you have some data for Supreme 780. I have 8 pounds and I know it is just two slots slower than H4831/H4831SC. It is my hope that this will be an excellent powder for this cartridge

Man 3400 with the 100 gr bullet that would seem like a let down to me I would hope for at least 3600 since one can get 3500 out of a 25.06 using RL17.

I would look to see what one could get with RL17 since it was designed for short mags
