Looking for info on the 25 cal E-Tip (100 gr) for whitetail deer or the 100 gr Ballistic Tip. Tried another brand last year got the 8pt but he ran for some distance. Shot at 35 yds behind the shoulder and acted as though I missed. A little hair and very few drops of blood but thank god for snow. Any and all load data would be appreciated. I have a stock of IMR 3030, 4895 and 4350.
Thanks.

I included Lovex D073.6; I note that Natchez is marketing this as "Shooters World Match Rifle Powder" (http://www.natchezss.com/match-rifle-powder-1lb.html).

I think you might be better off with the 100 gr BT.
The ET has a long bearing surface so you are looking at slower speeds to keep pressures at a safe level in the 99.
The slower twist rate would be better suited for the 100 gr BT.

I think you might be better off with the 100 gr BT.
+1 . Good call.

The RL17 Dr Mike ran is a top notch powder for the 250.

I run a 250AI and RL15. RL 15 in the AI is like they designed it for that cartridge.
The 250 is a cool cartridge and the BT is going to open quickly at those speeds. Shouldn't have to chase them very far with that bullet.

I wouldn't be a bit worried about the 100 BT starting out at 2900-3000 from the 250. Should work real well and penetrate too.

Love the Adirondacks. We used to have a camp in Minerva.

JD gave you some good advice. If your twist rate will hold the 100 gr then a BT would be my choice. Favorite loads include 35 gr of 4064 or 38 gr of 4350. If you have the slower twist you could try some 85 gr CTs or TSXs. At 3000 fps or less the BT is pret5y tough and an optimal bullet in the 250 IMHO. CL

From reading your post it sounds like last years bullet didn't expand much if any. That could have resulted in the tracking job.
The 250 isn't going to be blistering fast so I would want a bullet with fairly quick expansion at the speeds and range you'll be shooting.
To me, that says Ballistic Tip or Partition, in that order.
You stick that 100 gr BT right behind his shoulder you won't have to chase him far at all.

You have received excellent advice. The monolithic bullets at the velocities developed in your Model 99 may not be as reliable as you desire. A cup and core bullet is designed to open at these lower velocities. My choice would be the 100 grain Ballistic Tip or the Partition as suggested.

Other bullet choices could also include Hornady and Sierra bullets in 100 grain.
