257 wby and 100 gr BT powder suggestions

I just want these to as fast as they can! the gun likes the bullet so hopefully I can turn it into a lazer.

69 grs of 3100 seems to be grouping well but I have not ran it accross the chrony yet but QL shows it shy of 3500 noslers book show 3650 I think.

I have 4831 RL25 Retumbo RL19 7828 I will get something else i fyou can get me over the top!

I know I know 3650 is pretty darn good but I want more seperation from my 25.06

I would think Retumbo and RL 25 should get you where you want to be.
Just keep you barrel cool to prolong barrel life.

I went to a GS Custom 100 grainer for more speed. These bullets shoot great by the way. 73.5 grains IMR 7828 would regularly give me 3690 fps average and shoot well under 1/2 moa. My extreme spreads would also hover between 11 and 20. Work up to this though, it's pretty warm. The GS is coated and has driving bands and this load may be too hot for the BT. :grin:

I have had great success with ramshot magnum. I also have rl 25 retumbo and h1000 that im going to be trying. My weatherby loves 100gr TTSX.

Retumbo gave me the best results in two different rifles using the 100 grain BT. 3625-3675 with .25" groups at 100 yards. Have not tried the third rifle yet. Going to wait a couple of months until I can get my hands on some of the new 100 grain E-Tips.

If you really want fast try the 85 grain Ballistic Silver Tips and RL 19. Just over 3800 FPS and one hole group at 100 yards.

I do not have any RL25 or retumbo to try yet. I was not interested in any other weight bullets at this time for testing. I have some A-frame bullets to try and think they would be good if I wanted to use this on wild hogs.

I've never had any luck finding the right combination of speed and accuracy with any of the slower powders and the 100 grainer. IMR 7828 always gave me the most velocity and groups were outstanding with it.
With the 115, that's a different story. My go to load is very accurate and flat shooting. I shoot these loads out to 600 yards and they all shoot 1/2 moa.
H1000 at 73.0 grains and the 115 berger is the ticket. Very accurate and at 3280 fps it's flatter at 600 than the 100 grain pills. H1000 is very consistent no matter what the temp is. Extreme spreads run single digits with this load.
RL25 with the 115 is also very good. High velocities can be achieved, but my load is 72.0 grains, 115 berger and 3370 av velocity. This load is also stellar, but not as consistent as the H1000.
I look for accuracy because hitting your target is the name of the game. If you really want to show off velocity, load the 80 ttsx and get over 3900 with it.

POPS......The loads you show for IMR7828SSC and IMR7828 are several grains less than mine but mine are out of the Nosler reloading manual. Which one is right. My loads showed no signs of high pressure trouble.

well I tried 7828 and while it broke 3700 it was a 3" group

so I used a max load of imr 4831 and got 2 cloverleafs and 3600! this was 2n fastest load to the 7828 and retumbo and rl25 were a touch over 3500 and almost equal

Sounds like you found a 100 grain load. Cloverleafs at 3600 are great. Run the ballistics, practically no difference between 3700 and 3600. You have a great load. Good work up. I do have a load for 110 accubonds though. It is 71.0 grains IMR 7828 and it yields 3500 fps. This load is scary accurate. The 110 will also fly flatter than the 100 with more downrange energy. :grin: :grin:

My 700 SPS likes 75.0 Ramshot Magnum with the 100 NBT. haven't chrono'd it yet but it's plenty accurate. Fed 215M primers, weatherby brass.

what kind of rifle are you guys shooting? I was thinking about maybe looking into the Remington CDL Stainless/Fluted in the .257 Wby. Have you guys known anybody with one, how do they like it?

I have a weatherby vanguard. Hard to beat it for the money. I do wish it had a 26" barrel and not the 24" one with this round but it still does fine.
