26 Nosler for Moose

The last thing I'd think of doing is staying home if all I was armed with was a 6.5 Swede and any decent over 140... They seem to penetrate well and man are they easy on the shooter!

Heck, Phil Percival's favorite rifle was a 6.5x54 MS, in Africa. Bell waxed a few elephants with a 6.5x54 MS with 160s. In that 26 Lightning Bolt I think a 140 or the Woodleigh is a fine choice.

We are very excited about the tag! My son has been hunting with me since the age of 9 and has never drawn what we would call a "good" tag, He just turned 26 and took 17 points here in Washington to draw the tag. He's been waiting a long time to draw, he had to watch me when I drew a quality late tag in 09 with only 6 points while he had 11 (Even though I think he was more happy than me as he stood next to me when I took my biggest Mule deer ever with that tag) So I can't wait to stand next to him this year when he gets to pull the trigger.

I believe your son is in for an enviable hunt. It will be really enjoyable for both of you, I have no doubt! I'm really looking forward to reading about the hunt. We're all pulling for him.

I sure hope he connects on such a great tag. Hope you keep us all up to date.......

I would worry about that 160 Woodleigh, ha.

Yeah, you know how those Aussie bullets just bounce off game. Just yanking your chain.

Ha! Had a brain spasm, I left out the word "not" as in, no worries about a Woodleigh.  I've never had a Woodleigh not shoot well in the two calibers I've used them in. ( 240/30-06; 225/35 WAI; 310/35 WAI)

If you're using aussie bullets you have to pour beer in the case and seat the bullets upside down.

That's fair dinkum mate. :)
