Great thread Kevin. I'm watching and learning buddy.
Thanks Scotty! My LGS didn't have any H4350 BTW! Since I just had to spend $1,900.00 on fixing a manufacturing mistake on my M6040 Kubota, and buying 1,000 Lapua bullets I'm going to use the 4 pounds of RL-17 I have on hand. That will save me $100.00, and since I have the powder sitting around I may as well use it this year.

Very sorry to hear about your friend Scotty, I hope you're coping well enough with it buddy.

I finally got around to sighting in my GAP 260 Rem. with the new load I developed with RL-17, and the lapua 139 Scenar. Seems to prove out very well considering this is shot prone off a bi-pod and a bean bag rear rest. This was shot today @ 101 yards, and I'll still have to re-shoot this after unlocking the turret set screws and re-setting a zero. Good enough for the Chicks I run with! lol

Nice. Doesn't appear the bipod hurt any.
Also a shame those GAP rifles don't shoot.  In truth though, I haven't seen one of theirs that doesn't shoot lights out.

Have you run any RDFs through it yet? I'm curious what you think of them. I have some loaded for the 260 AI but haven't shot them yet.

I have not even thought of it honestly.  The Lapua Scenar is easy to tune for, and they're easy to find in bulk, plus I already know what to seat them at in my rifles. Maybe one day after I see enough of them used, and get the bug to try something new?

Very True, and why I'd sell every rifle I own for one, or two super accurate rifles vs. a dozen so-so factory rifles in the safe. Something like a 6.5/06, and a 338/06 or a 35 Whelen; or a 300 WM or a 300 WSM, and a big 338 like the 338 Norma Magnum, or 35 STA would be interesting. Even a 6.5x47 Lapua, and a big .300 would work around the world IMO.

There are some very good rifle builders out there. I know more then a few of them I'd put my full faith and trust in and never look back. Some are too pricy IMO, but George Gardner at GA Precision builds a great product for a very good price IMO. Sure 4K is a lot, but so is having 4-6 factory rifles, and for the ammo and time you'll save searching for a good load you'll be hunting sooner than just the average gun off the shelf.

Great shooting! That rifle shoots every darned thing well.
Thanks Scotty! It makes my job easier, and does make me look good ringing out great shots on steel during a match. I have two coming up back to back, I hope to do well this year.... ? If I could just avoid having an off day and make the most of the 2-3 days at these events.

Just got out to test for zero and POI, looks like the previous target. I did somehow manage to put 3 into one hole, but seeing the hole was messing me, and my POA.... Dots are tough to stay centered and seeing the hole didn't help! FWIF I still only use a 3-12 scope, but is very clear and a nice wide FOV..... nothing worse then not being able to get on target 'cause your scope is set on too high of a magnification!

So this will be my first year using this rifle suppressed using the TBAC 30BA can I've had now for a few years. Although now I've added a Rifles Only MAD cover rather then using nothing at all. BTW this is no light weight gun anymore! lol

That is a wicked rifle. Can't help but like a rifle that is that nice and stacks bullets as well.

Thanks Scotty!

I just opened another 1 lb. bottle of RL-17 and noticed there was a lot of gunpowder kernels stuck to the underside of the seal of the cap...... I don't like it when a canister gets exposed to air, those kernels turned a funky green to the inside of the sealed cap.

I inspected the bottle for color, and the sniff test, and compared it to the other bottle I had used. It looked and smelled normal, I'd hate to find out this has slightly gone off? Without testing it over my chronograph I might have to go open another bottle? I started with (4) 1 lb. bottles which makes roughly 164 rounds per pound. Just sucks since I have 600 pieces of bullets that were slated for this powder, and they were all the same lot, plus I've had them for quite a few years now.

I bet it's fine Kevin. I looked and mine has a slight green'ish tint as well.
