The LH Savage 260 Remington I had on order might only be available in the U.S. so I changed my order to this model which is for sure available here in Canada.

The model 10 Predator Hunter Max 1 in 260 Remington. It has a 24" fluted barrel, 1 in 8 twist, and weighs in a 8.5 lbs. It should be a tackdriver, a bit heavy but not too bad, I'm really looking forward to getting it in, should be a deer hunting machine :) This should be nice for my wife to shoot at the range but a bit heavy to hunt with if she decides to take her hunter training and come hunting with me but we can get her a gun later if she decides she wants to hunt.

Nice choice, Gerry. I like it a lot. I especially like the longer barrel; the twist is about perfect.

That is a sweet rifle Gerry! I really thought about one of them in a 260 or 6.5-284 till I got my 264. They look like some tackdriving machines and I bet it'll shoot! Good luck buddy!

If I wasn't such a big fan of the 260 Rem the 6.5/284 would have been really interesting. It is nice to see that Savage offers the LH shooter more than a few wood stocked 270's, 30-06's and 7mm RM's. There's nothing wrong with such popular cartridges it's just nice to have some choice.

Savage not only makes a fine rifle, but offering it in a variety of models and styles builds their customer base. I should think that it will only generate loyalty to the brand.

I had one just like it except the shifter was on the correct side. :p

Mine was crazy crazy crazy accurate. I never got around to handloading for it as the 139gr Scenar from Cor-Bon was running under .5" @ 100yds and was MOA or better out to 620yds when I was doing stuff right.

Not bad at all Gerry - I like it.

Have seriously considered ordering up a 6.5 barrel the next time I wear out a .308 Krieger barrel...

That is a great looking rifle gerry, with some quality hand loads that will be a machine
Lets know how it goes.

Blessings,
Dan

Heath, it sounds like yours was really good, hopefully this one will be too. Hopefully it will still be here in May or June, I have lots of 6.5mm bullets but am really wanting to try some of those 100 gr Partitions sitting in the man cave, Nosler's book says 3300 fps is possible with those. Sitka Blacktails beware :) Guy, the smaller 6.5's are a joy to shoot, I'm sure you would really like a 260 or 6.5 Creedmoor.
