is the .264 the best cartridge ever made..... I don't know but im sure proud of mine right now.

I have killed all three species of deer with mine in Washington. two kinds of elk. bears and many a coyote. none compares to tonight when my buddies daughter slowly squeezed the trigger on her first doe. boom flop.

man I love that gun/round

.264 is a good size.
Just subtract 0.264 from whatever that readout is. Of course it's a .264 in a .284 case. :)

Certainly a delightful round that'll put a grin on the chin of the most jaded hand loader/shooter.

Lot of power in a sensible mag case. Very little recoil!

I have a Rem 700 with a 27 3/4" Shilen barrel 264 Win mag and I agree with you. It is a deer smoker. I shoot the Nosler 130 AccuBond with 66.5 grs Retumbo and get sub MOA accuracy and 3350 fps. It kills a deer waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay out in a soybean field almost before you hear the gun go off it is so fast. I have used it for 4 years and have killed a dozen plus deer, lost count, and all have been DRT. It has been in my experience that most anything .264 cal. is a great deer killer. I also have a 6.5x55 and have experience shooting deer with a 260 Rem and 6.5 Rem mag my buddy had. We did crop damage control for 15 years and shot a lot of deer with about everything from a stick to a 45-70.

I agree 100%. I just killed my first deer with this cartridge in a M70 FWT with 24" barrel. I got 3084fps out of it and it did the number on my buck. I have always had a real affection for this "magic" caliber. 6.5mm bullets just seem to perform beyond their small diameter. Good job on your hunts this season.

Fotis nailed it. ALOT of performance in a good sized case and very easy on recoil. Love mine.

Mike, between the 264 and 338 your missing two of Big Reds signature cartridges!

One of these days, Scotty; one of these days. I suspect that I'm more likely to pick up a 264 before I pick up a 338. However, two other odd-ball cartridges are coming into my orbit shortly.

I know, more than enough rifles for just not enough danged time. I'm thinking the 358 and 8x68 will keep you plenty busy though!
