Looks cool Joel. Now stop playing and go get some holes in paper! We need a range report!

+2. That round is flat out awesome Joel!

I am not sure why I don't see pictures of targets yet? Must be the slow connection I have where I am at! Scotty

Congrats on a sweet rifle! What was the turn around time and who did the work?

Thanks for the comments guys. There isn't alot of flash on this one, which is what I wanted. I plan on hunting her hard and putting some "beauty marks" on the stock. This is meant for serious hunting, not a safe queen or wall hanging rig.

The work was done by a friend of Rod's that lives in central North Dakota. His name is Steve Wald, and he does alot of work on F-class and Palma builds. If you look at some of Rod's threads of his rifles you will see some of his other craftmanship. Total attention to detail. The turn-around time will vary, depending on what you want and who's barrel you use. I wanted a cut-rifled barrel, so it took about 3.5 months from when the barrel was ordered until Steve got it to do the final chambering and finish work.

Case comparison: 300WSM on the left, 264WSM middle and Remington 260 on the right.

could you pm me contact info? My guy is backed up and I don't think he will get to it before I need it?

Joel,

Those ABs seated in that WSM case just look awesome. They look fast and lethal just standing there.

That is a FINE rifle, one has to appreciate a great gun and great workmanship. Looking forward to hearing more about the gun in the future. 8)

Im having a serious case of RIFLE ENVY right now   . Good looking rig :!: My 270 WSM lacks the 8) 8) 8) 8) factor of that 6.5/300.

Scotty I am more than happy with my 270WSM but Ive always wanted to be a little different than everyone else in the woods. Some might say I have that covered without a weapon in hand.....

Ha, same here! Man, only on this forum would carrying a 270WSM be considered normal like a 30-06! I get what your saying though, pretty neat to have something nobody else is likely to have. Those 6.5 are pretty addictive. Be careful....Scotty

One of the range officers sat behind me yesterday for most of my range time just to see how it shot once he found out what caliber it was. He has a 260 and wanted to see what velocities I was getting. He made sure everyone coming into the range to shoot stayed away from my benches (yes I tied up 2) while I was shooting.

I tied up 2

Bench hog!

Joel, I time my trips so as to permit me to spread out along the firing line. I often have three benches tied up.

I like to have some space as well! Can't blame you buddy. Don't want anybody to get close to your new secret weapon! Scotty

I don't like the AR-15 types slinging hot Wolf empties from the bench next to me  . Take those damn toys and go play at the 50 yard range  . Sorry, don't mean to offend anyone that shoots these rifles. I just have some bad memories that have kept me from ever wanting to own one.

Man, I know that! I have had so many hot brass burns on my neck and face from being on the range next to others while we were shooting round after round during out shooting courses. Just grew to really dislike hot brass flying anywhere next to me!

Joel, I am sure your hatred is much deeper, if I am catching your drift. Scotty

WOW!!

A .264/300wsm  !.

Now we're talkin'. Back about some 40 years we had the .264WM Westerner. I bought 2 I liked 'em so much! One of the really neat 6.5s ever. Many, many mulies and antelope felt the rath of those rifles. Now we have a resurgence in 6.5 interest and we have the powders, cases and good bullets to make a neat package.

Lets see some targets, etc. as time goes on.

Best of luck,

Jim

I agree with all those before me J. That is a very good looking rifle & certainly sounds as though it will shoot well...thinking back, you mailed me pics of some targets you shot recently - were they from this rifle?
Cheers, ET

Yeah, those are the ones I sent you. That was with the 120 BT just messing around. I have since been working on the 130 AB's and Scirocco's trying to find a good load and get them to around 3250+ fps. I still have a lot of capacity to go with both MagPro powder and H1000. Right now it seems to show better groups and velocity with MagPro. Hope to get out this next week before another road trip happens
