Sometimes in life you can't leave well enough alone...The B&C Stock on my 270 just felt a bit big in my hands so I ordered a McMillan and decided the factory barrel wasn't good enough for what I wanted. Lastly, talked my self into a little more scope...Well here she is now...A perfect North American Hunting rifle and with a 140 AccuBond at 3000fps - cds 1 turn dial out to 700 yards...(Load work for the CDS Upcoming)

FN Winchester 70 Supergrade Action
Timney Trigger
Shilen SS Match #3 barrel finished at 24 3/4" - requested more shank exposed
McMillan Classic, Edge fill stock
Talley Steel Low Rings/Bases
Leupold 4.5-14x40 30mm, CDS, Windplex Reticle
Rifle is bedded, floated, and Timney at 2 pounds.
Rifle with Scope weighs 8 pounds even...

Nice build!

I went with the same scope for my own 270 build!

Fine build that will serve you well throughout NA. Great components.

My gosh that is put together nicely. It all looks right and I imagine it feels right! Cannot wait to see it on the range. Thanks for the pictures.

That's a darn nice rifle!

The Timney trigger - is it like the old style Model 70 triggers or is it all enclosed like the Remington 700 triggers?

That should literally do for anything in North America!

Can't wait to see the hunting pictures!

What a beautiful set up in one of my favour calibres (y). I am sure that sweet little lady is going do everything you ever ask of her and more.
Thank you for the photos and I am looking forward to a range report.

Blessings,
Dan

That rifle looks excellent! Great finished weight as well. Very nice work!

Nicely set-up rifle, should be a real shooter. I've had good luck with Shilen Match Grade Barrels, mine is also 24.5" on my 6.5/300WSM, but it was suppose to be 25". They cut the case neck way too long!

Guys, I may have created a bug hole shooter... Got the rifle out today with Winchester Brass, FED 210 primers, and 140 nosler accubonds.

Shot first 2 fowling shots at 25 yards to get lined up on paper....Then moved back to 100 and started break in and group work up... Shots 3,4,5 behind 58.0 of H4831SC averaged 3010 FPS and shot 3/4" - not bad...Next load 53.0 of w760 - shots 6,7,8 went into 3/4"...Last group I loaded was 57.0 of reloader 22 - 1/2" group - 3163 FPS high, average of 3149, shots 9,10,11...Warm load but not over pressured by any means and thats with a 140 grain bullet!

11 rounds and the barrel is broke in and I am done with load development...WOW! Crazy thing is that exact same reloader 22 load out of the factory barrel would never break 2" and 2900 fps.

I will be taking my new found load and sending it to leupold for a 3000 foot and 6000 foot elevation turret.

Great stuff, thats an amazing difference between the two barrels, 250 fps is really something that normally requires a belted
Case! Interesting rifle.[ I would call that loading Lt Magnum for sure!] Sweet looking set up. Good Luck with it.

Quality materials certainly make a difference. That is a fine load that will work for about anything you should hunt.

Wow, that sucker shoots! That 140 is a wicked bullet. Sounds like that 270 is destined for great things.

Outstanding! That is a great build and one heck of a load you have there.

You did good "spud digger"! (ha) I am impressed! It certainly shoots as well as it looks. I too am a sucker for 'slim n trim" when it comes to my hunting rifles! Draw some tags, make some plans, kill some meat this Fall!

Man that is a great load with some very fine accuracy. You definitely built yourself a sweet shooter that will give you years of pleasure (y).
Thank you for the post.

Blessings,
Dan
