Here are a few pictures of the two bullets found in the off side hide of my mule deer. These were shot at 2875 fps. From a .270 Win.
These are the old solid base Ballistic tips.
This bullet was fired into the buck as a finishing shot at an estimated distance of 40 yards. Impact right behind the elbow while he laid on his side going up into the chest cavity. It weighed 54 gr. and appears to have lost its lead core.
This bullet weighed 83 gr. And mushroomed quite nicely. Impact was high shoulder through the spine and off shoulder coming to rest under the hide. Distance was 410 yards.
Here is a different angle of the 2 bullets.
I have heard stories of these bullets being too soft etc. I have also talked to numerous guys who have killed up to mature bull elk with them. I bought these a little over a year ago as I could not find any of the modern BT anywhere. I bought most of them from guys on this forum! Thanks! I love the modern BT and use them most of the time for deer. It was very rewarding to take this buck with these older bullets.
