170 grain Ballistic Tip in a 270 Weatherby?

I did hit high.......and some bone........but I don't think that is too bad for an exit. I would guess at longer ranges there would be less damage etc.
Thanks, much appreciated. Looks similar to what I'm used to seeing with Ballistic Tips in 6.5mm and the 150 in my old 270 Win. Hope to turn one loose on a mountain goat in February and again on spring bear.

Good Luck..............I bet they will do a great job!!

I am up to 74 grains of retumbo behind 165ABLR 3150fps. Still no pressure signs. I have a few hundred 170 noslers I haven’t started loads for. I imagine retumbo will do fine for that too. I am in love with the rechamber to 270 fast twist weatherby.

What is your velocity?
year old thread. i didnt see that when i replied. i WILL be running 150ablr, 165 ABLR, 170 tipped nosler, 170 EOL, 175 TGK.

my data will be kinda hot. i have .600" freebore and 3.50" COAL. with 3.500" i have .400" freebore.

i am already running 165 ABLR with 74 grains of retumbo. more data to come soon. at 74 grains of retumbo i still have roon for more powder. im not compressed yet.

so, my bullet touch up is at 3.82" freebore is 3.45-3.82, which is sufficient to drop pressures by 10 percent plus. these loads CANNOT BE USED WITHOUT THROATING.

I NEVER intend to use 140 or lower bullets. they will jump so much it will be difficult to achieve pressures needed for any kind of speed.

it is possible i will cut the throat further. this is a single shot. a bolt action can do this with one bullet at a time. i have tried to shoot a long SST 140 and i had unburned powder gains everywhere. the case didnt expand and seal. all of my barrels are caliber and a half freebore minimum.

obviously i am doing 'out of the box' things with 270 weatherby.

i WISH i knew about 270bee decades ago, i would have know that its the best overall round there is.

of course the 7 twist barrels didnt exist a long time ago.

even with standard twist 270bee barrels, a lot can be achieved with long enough throats. i shoot all the way to 452" bores. 375 taylor. 350 remington mag.

the possibilities with 277 caliber are just insane now.

i might buy another 277 barrel with fast twist and get it chambered to 277 shooting times westerner.

cant be 7 twist, because the boolits will shake apart. 8 twist.

maybe 7 twist 270 BEE is enough lol. hard to quit pushing it lol.

The 270 Bee has the case capacity to push those long bullets fast. Should be awesome performance with reasonable recoil. Such a sleeper round that has great potential.

the recoil is so low as to ignore it even with HOT 175TGK.

with 150ABLR and 165ABLR, i don't notice recoil. i'm used to getting ROCKED by 235gr 375 Taylor loads at 2900fps.

it seems to be a shame that the 270 Bee didn't have a 1:8 twist with 7mm MAG murdering HIGH BC 165 to 175 bullets.

i realize that the 270 Bee was a rechamber of 270 WIN 10 twist..........JUST LIKE MINE IS...... but my rechamber is 7 twist.

seems a shame that the 270Bee would have negated the 7mm rem mag. .007" diameter difference, but with HIGH BC.

i have stopped using my 350 rem mag and 375 taylor because this round destroys all ranges terminal performance.

my 308 AR!0 has the same recoil as my 270 Bee. like i care. later fellas. i wasted 30 years searching for this round. countless thousands of dollars and bullets.

love it GD. love it!
