270 Winchester Load and Primers

I've had several 270's over the years and still have a pre-64 M70 and the JOC custom Tribute rifle. Both do very well with 59.5 gr of H4831 and Federal magnum primers with the 130 gr bullet be it Hornady or Nosler.

I've found for these rifles with the 150 gr bullet IMR4350 is the powder of choice from a group standpoint.
These are targets shot the same day with the above mentioned load for the 130 gr bullet at 100 yards in the M70 allowing for cooling between three shot strings.

Col Colt, my 1949 Model 70 Custom stocked .270 Win still shoots groups about the size of yours. Certainly nothing to complain about with groups that small. Nice shooting.

it wouldn't shoot groups like that at first. I took the barreled action apart and saw several areas inside the barrel channel that were black and shinny...so, I took some sandpaper and fixed that little problem then giving the entire barrel channel a couple coats of Tru Oil and decided while I had it out may as well bed the recoil lug area. Those two things brought the groups down to a more pleasing size I can live with. Those groups at 100 yards was with an old Lyman Perma Center 4X scope.

Looks like you are well on your way to some fine looking hunting loads.
