I need some QL data to load up some 140gr BT, in my 270 this weekend. Scotty has convienced me that the RL26 is the way to go with this caliber, so I am going to!
However in the meantime I want to do some shooting over the weekend and the only powder I have lots of is just plain old H414, I realize it isn't the very best but will need to use it until I can find a supplier that carrys RL26 ?????? I cant find it anywhere. Anyone got any good loads with 414 in their own 270 ?????
I have just burned up a couple of boxes of 130gr BT to get the cases at Milk Jugs at 416yds and 170oz Laundry Detergent jugs at 552yds. almost toooooo easy today as there is NO WIND here for the first time in almost 3 weeks! Milk Jugs at 400 exploding into impressive display of flying plastic.
Rapid Z reticle is spot on with that load. (y)

Thanks Scotty,
I had that and was confused why it listed 414 way below WW760 ???? I thought they were the same powder so wondered if that was a misprint??? Also I think the other list showed 54.5 as Max ? Nosler lists the WW760 as 53 grs that link for the 140gr BT so I think I better just assume that is a misprint on the 414 or did I miss something here????
Sorry to bother you................... I was going to see if some of the other boys that have QL would just throw it up for the 414 and 140gr Bts............ everyone is probably at work , so will check in later. Thanks again

No worries E.. I bet someone will have it soon enough. I'd be okay with working up to 2900 or so with your rifle, keep the chrono on like. I think you could easily come up with a good one pretty easily.

Oh, and if that 130 BT is working well, that's not a horrible choice either. What sorta speed are you getting from those?

Thank you very much for posting that !!!! I really appreaciate it. I loaded some up today with some old 130gr
SST bullets I had laying around , 53.5 grs , they avg about 2950ish outta this gun, looks like it is going to be really tough to ever get to 3 with the 140s. Interesting my old Lyman manual 45 Edition listed W760 and 55grs as max back in the 70's , lol.
I must get some RL 26 asap, and see how close I can get to 3K with the 140s......
Thanks again for helping out
E
I did have one cartridge that must had a bit of an overcharge in it break 3K and here is a picture of the primer. Bolt still lifted with one finger.
