Have not started to load for my 270 wsm. All the factory loads are crimped with cannelure bullets. Does the 270 wsm require a crimped case.

No crimp is needed at 270 WSM recoil, I don't even think about crimping my 375 Ruger loads.

I have never crimped for my 270WSM. It is not that it is bad; it simply isn't necessary.

Makes sense. I was just unsure due to all factory loads that I have are crimped. Any favorite recipes?

RL22 and 150 BT's or PT's. WW cases, CCI 250 primers.

It is a solid combo for the cartridge.

I am with the others, I don't crimp any loads for my 270 WSM either. Never found an issue with it.

Like the other guys have stated, there is no reason to crimp 270 WSM ammunition. I do not crimp any rifle ammo except for loads for the .416 Rigby. My .375 H&H loads have been to Africa several times now, with no crimp and no problems.

As to favorite loads for the 270 WSM I have a couple. With the 140 grain Nosler Partition a max load of RL 22 gives 3200 fps and great groups. With the 110 grain Barnes Tipped TSX a max load of IMR 4350 gives 3600 fps and great groups (really hammers antelope).

All my loads use Winchester cases and Fed 215M primers.

I probably never would have bought a 270 WSM, but I won one at a dinner and it has become a real favorite. Great killing power and virtually no recoil.

As previously mentioned no crimp is needed.
My load is 66 gr of rl22 with a 140 AccuBond. Shoots bug holes out of my tikka.

Magpro is my powder of choice for the 270WSM regardless of bullet. If (when) I get specific on finite details on a given load, RL-19 is my choice for 130gr, Magpro or RL22 for 140gr, and Retumbo for 150gr bullets.

I don't think there is a poor choice from the 4350's and slower for the 270WSM. It does seem to be a cartridge that shows more promise as the powder charge increases.

No crimping for me. 140gr Accubonds with Retumbo with 215 primers. One of the Tikka T3 LS 270WSM rifle likes 69.0gr the other 71.0gr-THIS LOAD is a COMPRESSED LOAD. Only powder I tried initially, and never looked back.

I now need to develope a new load for the recently aquired Sako m75ss 270WSM that I bought myself for a XMAS present.

Fed. 210M, 62.5 R-19, Norma Brass, W/140 gr. AccuBond Browning A bolt W/Bell & Carlson aluminun bedding block stock. Shoots very good groups.I have seen custom rifles that would not shoot this good. I only crimp for auto's and I only have 1 of them. Hope this helps.

No one likes the 130 grainers?

I don't (currently) own a .270wsm, but if I will in the future, I would sure try them. In my pre '64 Winchester 70 .270, the 130 partitions really are the cat's meow!

Jim,

I'm running 130 grain E-Tips in my 270WSM. I've taken whitetail, elk and moose with this load. I don't see any reason to change at this point.
