I fire formed some 280 Rem brass in my 280 AI this morning. The load was a Hornady 154 gr Interlock with 53.0 grs IMR 4831, R-P case and W-W Large Rifle primers. Avg vel was 2723 fps for 15 shots.

Gratifying, isn't it? Fair impressive grouping for fire forming.

Awesome shooting Jim for FF loads! Man, that 280 is a keeper for sure. Scotty

Jim - nice shooting...that darn black diamond jsut kept dancing around those bullets  !

My buddy gave me a partial box of these Hornady 7mm 154 gr bullets. I thought that they would be perfect for ff brass.
Thought I would give IMR 4831 a try. Results were not too bad. I have shoot smaller FF groups with the 140 gr BT, I just didn't want to waste
them.

I ordered the custom CDS dial from Leupold last week. It is set for the 140 gr AB with a BC of .485 at 3150 fps. Elevation 3000' Temp 59* F.
I am looking forward to trying it out and streaching the barrel.

Jim - were those the round nose 154's? I have a box sitting in the cabinet that hasn't been touched in about 15 years.

Joel,

No, Pointed soft point.

David, this rifle is a shooter. It loves the 160 gr AB, countless groups that have been in the .2"s.

This rifle will be first up in WY for antelope. 140 gr AB's at 3150 fps.

Jim, I think you have an excellent rifle for antelope and mule deer there and probably elk with the 160 grainers. Very accurate 8)
