This is a load I picked out of an old Nosler manual that I've heard others have used. It's max so work up to it.
Win nickel brass Nos 160 gr. A/B Win large rifle primer IMR 7828 60gr. Over all length 3.33" I'm getting 2935 fps at 15' so about 2950 at the normal 12' mark. It's accurate in my Wby . That's about 3100 foot pounds of energy. It's pushing 7mm Akley improved velocities.
Good luck on you loading
Greg

Given what you have on hand I'd start with RL22 or 7828.
I've been shooting a 280 for years but have never worked with 160 gr bullets in it.

Keep me posted.

Both of theswe worked really well with the 160 AB in my 280 AI, I would guess that a few grains less would work great in a 280.

I've seen have a dozen postings claiming 3k fps with a 160 and 7828 that's where I would start. I believe the #3 manual claims like 2975 or so with it.

My 700 Classic 280 Rem shot the 160 gr PT with 54.0 grs IMR4831, R-P case and Federal GM210M primers to .400" at 100 yds.

Man, 2900-3000 with the 160 AB is about as awesome as an all around load as you can get. I imagine it's pretty gentle to the shooter as well. I only get about 3125 with 160 AB out of my 7WSM. Nearly 3000 out of the 280 is awesome. Good luck and post up your results. Scotty

Haven't loaded the 160 AB but I got really good accuracy and Velocity with the 160 Speer Mag Tip and Speer BTSP over IMR 4350 loaded in Win Nickel brass with Rem 9 1/2 primers. Right around MOA which is on par for a good load in this rifle. Still need to do some tweaks to the gun to see if it'll tighten up a tad.

Loaded to the max load listed in Lyman 48th. Got +150 fps over listed velocity with no pressure signs. Rifle is a Shilen Barreled Mauser K98 24".

Loaded the 160 PT this year. Vel. was slightly lower and am still working with it to try and improve accuracy. Got around 1.5 MOA. Hits big deer like Thor's Hammer.

I like the 160's alot in my 7mm's. Right now the 160 AB is shooting very well for me in the 7WSM. Seems like that 160 AB is very easy to make shoot as well. Scotty
