I used one of my 280s this fall to harvest both and elk and a mule deer with the 150 grain ABLR.

Those are some great speeds from a 280 Rem.

Wow. That bullet sure wakes the .280 up! DrMike, did you happen to recover those two bullets? If you did, I (and I am sure I am not the only one) would be very interested in how they looked and what the shots were like plus your own impressions. if you posted on this before, I apologize for having missed your comments.

Neither bullet was recovered. The elk was shot at about 75 yards, and the bullet smashed through. The mulie was closer still, and all that was left was a hole. However, either tastes great!

I guess it's safe to assume they both held together then. I've read that the LRAB expands more readily than ABs, but your results suggest they hold together well enough. If I wasn't awash in my lifetime supply of Partitions I'd HAVE TO try them...and I just might anyway!

I started some load work up for my .280 Rem. with IMR 7828 SSC. I just used the Nosler 150 gr. AB data and carefully worked up to the max for that bullet. I got 3010 FPS at the top load. I haven't had time to do any more work but have to see what I can do toward getting better accuracy.
I couldn't find any Re22 and the LGS had two bottles of the 7828 SSC. A quick check in a Nosler manual showed it as very close to Re22 so I grabbed both bottles.

They did appear to hold together under quite a bit of stress. I have no complaints at this point. I will likely use them again.

That was a good move on your part. IMR 7828 SSC should give you excellent performance with the ABLR. I do believe this bullet will be a winner in the .280 Rem.
