Vince, I have been rethinking this as well & like you the 06 theme is maybe the way to go :mrgreen:!
I am really thinking of doing a 25 cal and getting rid of my 270win so here is what I am looking at 6.5-06 then my 280AI & for the bigger stuff my 35 Whelen :lol: now I know the 270win is the sister of 06 so I may keep the 270win and looking to lighten the bullet maybe using something between 90gr. & 115gr.

Here's your "25-06" Dan look at the speeds possible with these bullets.

Add the 90 gr E Tip or a Barnes bullet in the same 85-110 gr weight range and you would have a screamer of a load.

Easy choice for me. I only have three rifles so I would take them.

Tikka T3 Lite in 7-08 with 140 Nosler Accubonds
Winchester Model 70 with match grade 7mm Rem Mag Shillen barrel cut at 26" with 175 ABLR
Kimber Montana 325 WSM with 200 grain Accubonds.

Yep, I am pretty happy with those three rifles.
