3 Cartridge Battery?

260 Rem
35 Whelen
Not sure about the 3rd maybe the 270 Win but more likely the 308 Norma magnum.

223 loaded for squirrel to deer.
7mmRM loaded for coyote to moose.
375 Ruger loaded for Deer to elephant.

Just don't tell my wife cause I'd have a lot of explaining to do.

I'd be fine with a 223, 7mm or 270, and my 338 Win Mag. I'm not sure I'd need more than any of those.

.358 Win Carbine----- Deer to Moose
30-06 General purpose----Deer to Moose
.338-------------------------Alaska.

I won't need to worry about Africa.

The only reason I threw the 416 in was for Africa but I have a friend that used a .338 Win Mag on cape buffalo. :)

Yeah most countries require a 9.3mm or .375 and greater in Africa for dangerous game. If we were talking just North America I'd probably stop at a .338 Norma Imp, 338 Edge, or 338 Lapua Imp.

Well I guess my big boy would be the 35 Whelen as I will never be on my way to Africa .
Then it would be my 280AI & now the 223 :).
African rifle is the 375 Hurt&Hurt nothing more or nothing less.

Blessings,
Dan

This is harder than it looks... Because I'm not one to pass up even a modest reason to buy a new rifle, I've not purchased looking for cartridges that cover a wide variety of use. And interestingly, when I made this list, I ended up with rifles/calibers I don't currently own because they have the most range of use.

7mm STW
35 Whelen
300 WSM or Win Mag.

260 Rem - Varmints to Deer
300 WSM - Deer to Bear
375 Ruger - everything else that walks has teeth, claws, horns or can hunt you back.

Since this is big game only, not target or varmint cartridges, I feel like three is PLENTY!

.375 H&H - love it for bear, and apparently it does a fine job on much larger game. I'd like to find out.
.30-06 - first love for a hunting cartridge, back when I was a kid. Still super useful.
.25-06 - am stuck on this thing for about the past 10 years... Favorite deer & antelope cartridge.

For targets & varmints I'd stick with my .308, .223 and .204, along with of course the .22 long rifle.

Well, I've always said that I would try to pick 3 based on a single (or similar) case design and it would be difficult to choose between the following:

280 Rem
338-06 and
9.3 x 62, or

7MM Rem Mag
338 Win Mag and
416 Taylor.

If I was limited to favourite rifles/cartridges I currently own, or have owned, it would be the following;

7MM STW,
338 Win Mag and
416 Taylor
(although trying to get me to part with my BLR in 358Win would be very difficult! and the 6.5 x 55 Swede is in the same rank)

The point is, I believe we all have our favourites, but who would really want to be so limited!!! LOL

Wow. Can't even begin to imagine only 3. (Yes, my wife says I have issues)
6.5-06
338-06
9.3 x 62

6mm Rem
7mm Rem Mag
8mm Rem Mag

This is what I use.
6mm Rem. Remington 700 BDL
.264 Win Mag. Model 70 XTR
300 H & H. Model 70 made 1939
