My standard 30/06 load is 58.5-58.8grs of IMR-4350, Fed 210M or WLR, behind almost any 165gr bullet. Have used it in several manufacturers brass. Shot in over a dozen different 30/06 rifles. Never a problem but I always work up to that with any change of components or rifles.Rick.

Rick,
This is a good load. MAX in the Hodgdon 2006 basic loaders manual show
59 gr vel of 2938 and COL 3.300

I get best results with WLR primers, they are the hottest.
Been trying to work up a imr 4064 powder load for 180 gr Hornady BTSP
and SST bullets.

Hey armycw; If you find a load that works for ya with Hornady 180 BTSP bullets let me know. I struggled all summer with this bullet. Tried 4 different powders including IMR-4064. My buddy wants to use em on a moose hunt fall of 2009. My 300 mag shoots that bullet great but I ain,t found the secret for the 30:06 yet. HUBCAP

Well, I read every post, interesting to say the least on the 30-06. I have been tweaking 30-06's loads in customs and factory rifles for 28yrs. I am not going to go into what I thought was good, indifferent or bad advice. All I am going to say is use H4350 and start at 56grs and work up half grain at a time and don't seat way out touching the lands. See what happens. Use Winchester brass, 210 Fed primers, Ballistic tips, Accubonds, Game Kings and 168gr TSX.

My standard 30-06 load for years

IMR 4350 @ 57.0
180gr Sierra Gameking BTSP
210 Match Primer
FC Brass

Also IMR 4895
44.0 with Sierra 180 pro Hunter bullets
48.0 with Sierra 150 Pro Hunter bullets

I switched to the 165gr AB in my Ruger M77 a year ago.

58.0gr of RL19
165gr AB
Fed 210 primer
Win brass (mostly) or Federal, no Remington

Shoots under an inch at 100yrds, for a hunting gun load it works great.
