30-06 Recipes

Two 30-06 rifles I have loaded for both really liked the following load.
IMR-4350 57.4 grains Either CCI 200 or Fed. 210 primers.
Seating depth: 3.375
Bullet: 165 grain Nosler Partition or the old Solid-base Boattail
Rifles: Reminton 700 ADL & a Ruger #1B

I no longer have the Remington (wish I did). Both grouped 1/2-3/4 inch at 100 yards with this load. Seating depth the same for both rifles, but may not work in yours. Chronographed velocity in my Ruger with the 26" barrel is 2940 fps.

First off, yes I did a search!!!

I just bought a 30-06. My plan is to develope a load with 165ABs. The powders I have on hand are: RL-19, RL-22, Retumbo, Varget, H4831SC, IMR4064.

I also have 150AB and 180AB
The rifle is a Vanguard Sporter w/24" barrel

Any recipes would be great.

I loaded up 9 different loads of 165gr AB starting with 55gr of IMR4350 incremented by .3 up to 57.6gr. Except for the first round all had the same POI for a nice ragged hole. I settled on 57grs.

I have used H4831SC for the .30-06 with 165 grain Ballistic Tips. I found that 58.0 or 59.0 grains worked well in an older 1903 Springfield. Just my $.02

I am trying to find a load for my /06 with the 190 BTSP Hornady, so far I have found one that shows lots of promise, 59grs H4831 and I am using WLR Primers. I have played with the seating depth and I keep getting two and a flyer. Should I change primers? Should I be using a magnum primer?

Thanks

Well, got the Vanguard Sporter 30-06 Friday, tested some Varget loads today. Here's the results of 50.5gn of Varget pushing a 165AB. Oh and yes I missed the penny.

details brother.....
i am loading 2 for my friend's kids... 8)

POP, that load with the Varget was a fluke. I wasn't able to repeat the group size when I went to set the scope. I think it had to do with not initially sizing the NEW Nosler 06 brass. I noticed a distinct difference in the effort needed to seat a bullet on resized brass. So, I started all over. First, was to FL size all of the brass. I eventially settled on 55.5gn of H414, GM210M, 180AB, and a COL of 3.390, and was able to repeat the development group sizing while sightin the scope for that load.

This is the group from 100M using the above load.
