Hello. I'm hoping to get some data for a 208 gr Amax in my 30-378 using Re33. It's a stock Accumark. I contacted Alliant and they replied they didn't test that combo. Hornady also. I have data for the 212 gr. ELDX with Re 33 and I'm just curious if I can use that data to start. Thank you for your time and reply. Tony

I would use Noslers data for the 210 AccuBond and as always start low and work up while watching for signs of pressure.

QuickLoad projections. Perhaps they will provide some guidance. Welcome aboard. Let us know how these work out for you.

Thank you for your replies. Do you think Re 33 is too slow for this combo? I also have H1000. Thanks again.

I don't think it's too slow but other powders may offer more speed.

It looks as if you are getting reasonable case fill and projected pressure does not appear to be excessive. I would be comfortable going with this. There are a few other powders you might consider. H1000 will assuredly work, as will several other Hodgdon powders. I've used a fair amount of VN570 and VN170 in tests with this particular cartridge in the past. They worked well for me. Either of those could be another option. However, I see no reason you couldn't use RL33 for the cartridge.

Thanks again. I really appreciate the info you posted. As soon as it gets a little nicer here I'll get out shooting and I'll post my results. Tony

It is not too slow for your 30-378.

BTW expect about 100 fps more . Q/L does not compensate for freebore

Is anyone using the 230 gr. Berger in this rifle with Re33? Thanks again

I e-mailed Berger and they replied that due to recent changes in protocol they no longer give unpublished data through email. I called the provided number and didn't get in touch with anyone. I'm sure they are pretty busy. I'll try again later. Thanks

I have found for myself Retumbo works well for the 208 Amax. A couple of years ago I switched to the 230 Berger Hybrids and never looked back. RL33 is my go to powder in my 30-378 with these , I load my long (over 4" COAL) and I'm running 3040 - 3050 fps with no pressure. RL33 is good to go with this caliber.

I forgot about this email I redeived from Berger a couple of years ago.IMG_0611.JPG
Not sure how this turned out , 1'st picture I attached here.

Hello again. I loaded up some 208 gr Amax bullets over the weekend and shot them on Sunday afternoon. Much to my dismay they pretty much hovered around 2-1/2" at 100 yards. Shot a different load that was previously pretty accurate in my rifle and was also pretty bad. I have a Zeiss conquest on it and I took it off to see if it's the scope or something else cropped up. I put a 4x16 elite 4200 and won't be able to test till Thursday to be sure. I'll post my results as soon as I finish. It's crazy to say but I hope it's the scope and no issues with the rifle. Mounts are tight and they are Burris Signature rings. Thanks to everyone for the info. Tony

It was with the 208 gr Amax. 107 grains of Re 33 with a COL of 3.750. The accurate load is 208 grain Amax with 99 grains oh H1000. At 3.750 also. Thanks again. Have a great day.

Did you check your action screws? My 338-378's action screws would loosen up after 7-8 shots even with blue loc-tite.

Did you chrono the load?

If I remember correctly the H1000 load was around 2940 fps. I didn't chrono the RE 33 load. I'm hoping to shoot Sunday. I'll post the results Thanks again.
