.300 Blackout Short Magnum

A buddy of mine, who insists on participating in the mildly crazy sport of Palma shooting with a .308 Winchester... 800, 900 and 1,000 yards, prone, no support except a shooting sling, and sights only, no scopes... Oh, also limited to 155 grain bullets and less... (Why ask too much from a cartridge?)

This fellow looked at all the excited chatter surrounding the .300 Blackout in recent years... And decided to re-name the his chosen cartridge as the....

.300 Blackout Short Magnum!

Love it...

For those who don't know, the AWESOME .300 Blackout produces an amazing 1990 fps with a 155 grain .30 cal bullet.

The .308 Win has no real trouble producing 2900+ fps with the same bullet, only an insignificant 1,000 fps more... :wink:

Ya, I know... Different purposes. Kind of. But really? I do LOVE the ".300 Blackout Short Magnum" designation! :mrgreen:
