So I picked up the new Seekins Havak PH3 in 300 PRC with a 26 inch barrel. I just love the gun. Tried several options of factory ammo and it shoots the Hornady 212 Grain ELD-X the best. Getting sub-MOA 5 shot groups at 100 yards. 5 Shot groups are coming in around .900.
I have no experience hunting with the ELD-X bullets and the opinions I am seeing online seem very mixed especially at closer distances. As it shoots so well out of my rifle, I am taking a close look at them and considering them for a Wyoming elk hunt which this rifle is for. Wondering if anyone is using this bullet for elk and if so can you share your thoughts and experiences. I appreciate everyone's feedback.

Under an inch with five shots from the 300 PRC is just fine. You've got it well dialed for accuracy.

I've only used the lighter 178 gr ELD-X on one cow elk, a couple of years ago with Dale (filmjunkie here on the forum). Accuracy was excellent. Cow elk was at 405 yards in a stiff crosswind. Made the appropriate wind and elevation call with my 30-06 and sent it downrange...

Bullet shattered her fore-leg and went through the lower 1/3 of her heart. She ALMOST went down, then rallied herself and hobbled after the herd somehow! The bullet had obviously expanded but we didn't recover it.

I don't think that's any slam on the bullet - it was just a few inches lower than optimal. Managed to catch up and finish her at shorter range.

Re the 212's - they've been accurate for me but I haven't taken game with them. My buddy clobbered a mule deer buck with one at modest range. I think Scotty here on the forum has used the 212's on elk with satisfaction.

Yup, from an 06 started at 2700. Worked excellent on a bull at 390. I’d stay off big bones up close at the increased velocity. Once it’s at about 2700’ish I’d put it where you please.

That’s a good size hole in the oil pump.
