Im on the process of building a 300 RUM.- Remington action, jewell trigger and a PAC NOR barrel.- Im decided on using heavy bullets on the 180 and most on 200 and 220gr.- So iwill order a 1 in 7.5 twist.-
PAC NOR has barrels with different grooves, 2,3,5,6 and polygonal.-
Im inclined toward de 3 grooves or the polygonal, Has anyone had experience with this Type of Barrels????
Any info will be appreciated.
thanks.-

CZ,

I think a 1:10 twist is all you will need fro the 300 RUM.
Good luck with your project.

I am not familiar with polygonal barrels but I have heard that fewer grews in the barrel are harder on a light jacket bullet like a SMK or a balistic tip due the the (fact?) that they are more prominent in the barrel than multiple smaller grooves. Maybe someone will shed better light on the subject.

That fast twist isn't likely needed. The standard 1:10 twist shoots 200 grain bullets just fine. Don't have much experience with polygonal rifling though.

yup!

I have 3 grove Pac-Nor Supermatch on my 308 Tactical Rifle and I have no problem using SMK or any match bullet on it. But then again, the velocity of the 308 is much lower than the 300 RUM. My only experienced with Polygonal barrel is with my Glock 17 and Desert Eagle 44 Magnum pistol. Polygonal supposed to have higher velocity when compared with conventional barrel due to less gas leakage behind the bullet and less distortion on bullet jacket thereby better performance downrange. Tubbs used Schnider polygonal barrel exclusively on all his competition rifle.
