Asking for a friend...
Looking for 300 Rum loads with 180 gr AB and 200 gr AB bullets.
I am pretty sure Retumbo is the first pick powder but what are you fellas loading?

I have a promising load with the 200 Grain AccuBond, 92.0 grains of RL 25 and Federal Match primers.

I'm also getting sub-MOA groups from 180 Grain Sierra SPBTs and 96.0 grains of H-1000 and Federal Match primers.

Still working on loads for the 180 grain Nosler PT and Barnes TTSX...both are shooting around 1.25"-1.5".

JD,
I currently use RL25. Here's my load.

Remington 700 Gun with 26" ported barrel
New Remington Cases
Federal 215 Primers
95.1- RL25
180 Nosler AccuBond
3372 fps
This Load cuts holes @100 yds.

I have loaded Retumbo, I believe the charge was 97.0, producing 3380-3382 fps with identical results to the RL25 on paper.
Loads were developed during 80-degree temps here in the South.

There were no pressure signs with new brass. Extraction of cases was very easy.

Warning: I cannot use re-sized brass, case heads get wiped, reflecting to much pressure.
Currently I'm working to reduce the load to utilize the stock pile of brass I have. 70-80 fps is not going to kill game any better.

Jim, are you loading for one of yours or a buddies? I would bet RL25 or Retumbo would be king in that case. Scotty

Jim -

Mine has always like the 180's better than the 200's
I've settled on IMR-7828, 180gr AB's, Nosler Brass & Fed Primers.

A max charge of Retumbo from the Nosler Manual gives me a severely sticky bolt.

180 gr A/B Fed 215 primers RP brass Case length 2.84" OAL 3.66" 101 gr Retumbo 3332 fps. Rem 700 26" barrel + muzzle brake. Two shots/one hole Works good on mule deer.
With a 200 yd. zero. it rises 1" at 100 yds and it drops 5 " at 300 yards.

Scotty,

I am not loading, just assisting a friend in getting load data. I am sure he is going to sign up and join us shortly.

Thanks fellas for all your help and support!

Jim,
Here are my recipes for the 180 & 200AB:

180AB
Rem brass: trimmd to 2.83"
GM215M
98.5gn of Retumbo
COL: 3.635"

200AB
Rem Brass: 2.83"
GM215M
95gn Retumbo
COL: 3.635"

That load, 95 gr of Retumbo under a 200 AccuBond - was what I kept running into when I asked about loads for the .300 RUM a few years ago when I had one. It worked very well.

Worthy of working up to it though - it's a book load, but stout. Very much a standard too, an awful lot of .300 RUM shooters seem to use it.

good day...

so far this is what i have for loads for my 300 rum:
-165gr AB - fed 215m - RL22 - 90 grs powder - 100 yds shoots 0.25 MOA temp was 0.0C
-130gr TTSX - fed 215m - RL22 - 97.5grs - 100 yards shoots 0.35 MOA temp for got to write down but it was around +5C i think
-180gr AB - fed 215m - IMR7828 - 87.5grs - 100 yards shoots 1" MOA at -8C. still working on this load to get it down to 0.5" or better.

my OAL is 3.61 to 3.62 and using remington brass.

hope this helps someone and i will be working on 180gr AB somemore and going to get a load for 200gr AB pretty quick also. would like to try the 180gr TTSX also. will post more if people are insterested.

happy hunting

Thanks fellas, greatly appreciated!
