Today's day at the range was long over due, but well worth the wait. I've been tinkering with my Remington 700 SPS in a Bell & Carlson Alaskan Stock for some time now. My best groups were right at 1" with the 180 grain Barnes TSX...until today.

The first group was one that I was confirming from some good results last month. It will definitely do, at just over 3/4" at 100 yards. Load was: 200 grain AccuBond, 88.0 grains of H 1000, WLRM primer, and 3.580" OAL.

The second group amazed me at 0.28"...now if I can just come close to shooting a group like this, with this load again my search will be over. Load was: 200 grain AccuBond, 77.0 grains of IMR 4350, WLRM primer, and 3.580" OAL. In the latest Nosler manual they're both supposed to be doing just a bit more than 2,900 FPS.

That last group is certainly worth laminating. If it is duplicated, the rifle is worth insuring for $50000.

Without a doubt! Great load and I bet that load is much more comfortable to shoot than the same bullet at 3200! Way to go! Love it!

Very nice. Both will work equally well for hunting but the bottom group is a pure bragging group that's for sure.

That is some shooting  I will be loading for the 300 soon & I will definitely be storing
that load in my memory banks:)

Blessings,
Dan

Quickload says 2860 fps with the IMR 4350. A little slower than a 300 win mag when handloaded.

For the 300 RUM retumbo and rl 25 is what you should be playing with to maximize performance.

Dang...that's not what I wanted to hear. I'll have to give Retumbo another go...initial load development didn't show anything with promise the first go around. Thanks!

Retumbo is certainly a goto powder for the 300Rum with 200 accubonds, mine sure loves the stuff but, if retumbo is not working RL25 is another choice you might want to look at.

My 300 RUM shot okay with Retumbo but I got much better results with RL25. Give that a try. I also shoot the 200AB. My load is with the max listed Nosler book charge. I use Fed 215 primers in my REM 700 / 26" ported barrel. The load produces 3,100 fps, accuracy is excellent if I do my part.
Your second group is excellent, I have shoot a few that look similar with my load as well.

There are fellow members on here that get more velocity using Retumbo, H1000 etc. Every gun is different. You just have to experiment a little.

Best of luck,
Don

Just my 2 cents, I have loaded both the 180 Barnes TTSX and the 180 Nosler AccuBond with 98.5grs Retumbo both loads have an overall loaded lenght of 3.60''. Both loads run almost identical 3330-3350 fps over the Chrony and both will shoot 1/2-5/8'' consistently(3 shots). Shot lots of 2'' steel plate at the 500 yard mark but have not used either on game. Did I mention I can't wait for some spring shooting geez minus 30 this morning and no wind.

Good shooting, for sure! You got a picture of said rifle? Sounds nice. I got some 200gr Accubonds loaded with RL25 powder waiting to get tested out this weekend for my 300 RUM.

92.5 of rl 25 gave me 3147 fps with my 200 AB's and .675" at 300 yards! Sako 75 SS.

Here are a couple of pic's . I had posted photos a couple of years ago when I first got the gun put together.Remington 700 stainless action, bolt lightened and tefloned, receiver trued, carbon fibre stock with graphite bedding block, Christensen Arms carbon wrapped Shilen Select match grade barrel in 300 ultra, tweaked factory trigger. Swarovski Z3 3-10x42 with Talley bases and rings. These pictures were from boxing day 2011 when my son and I attempted to call in a wolf but a blizzard rolled in and put and end to our efforts that day.

I would doubt that any other powder will beat that 4350 grouping. Thats great do you have any idea of the velocity of that load?? Very nice looking rifle.

Awesome group with the 4350! RL-25 and Retumbo have both worked well in three different 300 RUMs using the 200 AB. Had good luck with RL-22 and 7828ssc using 180s.
