Thought i had my 300 saum load figured out. Shot 165 PT well with a load of Varget. Took the rifle yesterday to the mountains for a drive about and little bear scouting.

Went to load the rifle....the rounds were too long for the magazine. Rem. model 7.

I was at 2.885. Max for the mag is 2.85. Oh well, back to the drawing board.

Will shorten the 165 to 28.5 & 2.835 and also load some 150 gr E-tips.

That has always been a sticking point on the Model 7 (and on the Model 700 in many instances). I never did figure out why Remington created such a short magazine.

Any other loading 300 SAUM? For some reason I am stuck on the idea of shooting lighter weight bullet in this rifles. The model 7 is a shorter barrel (22 inch) and I use the 30 WSM for the 180 gr bullets.

I've gotten better results with 165 gr or less bullets and IMR4350 powder. I have a Remington model 7 also and have to load mag length.

I loaded some 150 E-tips this afternoon using 4350. Two differnet lengths.
Like the full case capacity. Will hit the range Monday and see how they do.

Range twice in the last week with this rifle. Found that instead of going to lighter bullets, it likes 180 BT with a load of IMR-4350.

Nice groups. Will keep tweaking some, but MObear for me.

Cheers
